So I purchased the following:
GIGABYTE GA-H55-USB3
G.Skill F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK
Intel Core i3-540
Corsair HX-650W PSU

I assembled everything and it worked just fine for 3 days. After that it stopped posting. Im using the on-board HDMI out. I reset the bios, tried a different HDMI cable, tried the DVI out, tried one stick of ram in all slots with all peripherals disconnected, and nothing worked. When I tried the VGA out, it would display the gigabyte post screen for about 3 seconds, then glitch out and go blank.

RMAd the mobo to newegg, the new one does the same thing. Bought new and different ram, same thing. Checked with a different PSU, same thing. I dont have another 1156 processor to test out, but ive never heard of a processor dying randomly (no OC, properly seeded aftermarket heatsink with arctic silver5 paste.)

Thoughts\suggestions? And yes the 8-pin +12V is connected. I tried reseeding everything.
 
Have you done a barebones setup with the mobo on the mobo box? Do that if you haven't already to rule out a case shortage.

Did you clear CMOS with the new mobo? Different hard drive?
 
Its out off chassis on an ESD matt in my lab (u cant be too careful). Cleared CMOS with the new mobo(took battery out for an hour and shorted the cmos pins). HDs arent even connected.

Well here's my thinking:
A) Gigabyte done fucked up and sent you back another defective mobo or there's some really weird compatibility issue. A motherboard from a different manufacturer (Asus most likely) will completely rule out a mobo issue.
B) Your CPU is indeed defective. You need another 1556 CPU to test with.
 
I know its not a compatiblity issue, as Im using the same setup that others have reported success with. So yeah, its either A or B. I emaild gigabyte about the situation a week ago, those tards have yet to reply. If the CPU was bad id expect it to not post at all and just go through the boot/reboot cycle like when ram goes bad.
