Hey guys, currently have 3 monitors on a tri mount in eyefinity, I moved the very left one and replaced it with the very right monitor because I needed to, when I did I flipped it to the otherside because I don't want it's thick bezel part on the inside and would rather have it on the outside, anyway now I can set the very left and middle monitor to portrait and the very right to flipped portrait so they are even but as soon as I create an eyefinity group they go to default portraits, so the very right one is upside down for me (because I have it flipped) so how do I make the middle and the left monitor portrait and the right monitor portrait flipped in an eyefinity group?
 
Oh, thats a new one. I am not sure if its possible. Have you tried setting the two to regular portrait and the third to portrait flipped before you set the Eyefinity group and see if it transfers over?

I have, it just resets to it's normal setup and I can only choose portrait or landscape (no reversed portrait)
 
Just remove the bezels like I did and you will be golden. ;)
 
Sounds like a pain in the ass, the third monitor is a phillips, and has a very large bezel on the bottom where the buttons are, if I take the case off I'm sure there will be something there so I'll just swap it back to the way it was.

The LCD housings are always rectangle. Those "bumps" and stuff on the side(s) are for buttons, wires etc that you can move once the bezels are removed.
 
Well I took the housing of all three with no issues and the huge lip on one of the lcd's was actually just empty. I've got all three running now and it's much better.
 
Sexy ^^^ the very left monitor is slightly lower than the other 2. A quick adjustment can rectify that. Also you can try to use black electrical tape to cover the lights, if they distract you as many others have done. I'm interested in doing the same mod to my monitors but the bezels are on in a way that stripping them would make them never look the same again if I had to RMA them. I'm worried it'll void my warranty, and these monitors were expensive and the warranty covers cross ship so I don't want to lose out on such a bad ass warranty.
 
Yeah, This stand is quite a pain in the ass, it's hard getting them to line up perfectly but it was $70 shipped and is really sturdy so I can't complain. Just gotta find some time and get them lined up right.


edit: Well if you are worried about scratching the bezels when opening them you should try laying down some painters tape to the actual area so you wont scratch the clips or whatever they have keeping them in place.
 
Looking good! I'd cover those lights though. ;) I used a towel when I removed my bezels and I didn't have any issues. I could snap the bezels right back on in a minute if I needed to RMA.

Thanks for the tip Vega, I have since built the courage and have done this mod. Boy and I happy!! :D The pics I'll post just below are low quality but at the same time show exactly the improvement I got from this.

Aside from the Asus VG236 being among the best, if not the best TN pannels you can get the actual bezels underneath are the smallest I've ever seen, exactly 1.05cm!!! :D. Absolutely stellar eyefinity experience now. Here are some before an after pics.

As you can see the bezels were huge and distracted quite a bit.

Looks a million times better without those bezels! I think a new trend is developing. Bezel'less portrait surround/eyefinity is the shit. ;)
 
guys ne1 removed the bezels, from the dell U2311h? I am hesitant, because they have a 3 year warranty and dont want to screw that up.

Martin go for it bro, I was the same way.

Fact is you can do it carefully and the bezels will be brand new looking. If you do it right you should be able to snap them right back on if you need warranty support. My monitors have 3 years also including cross ship!! I still went for it and I'm sooo glad I did:D Vega suggested you use a towel and that worked well for me to avoid scratching anything. Remember also that you only need 1 or 2 good bezels as the chances of all 3 going bad at the same time are astronomical. Anyway I'm sure all your bezels will be fine, take your sweet time with the first one or 2, by the end of that, you'll be a bezel removing machine and the 3rd one will take you less than 3 minutes. Mine did :)

Yea, and since they're thin I can overlap them easily, but making it smaller would be awesome.

If I could make it smaller I may even try portrait, but right now the idea of the bezel on my main screen sounds annoying.
 
I tried the overlap setup, but It bothered me too much. Not having the images match up perfectly because of the difference in depth screwed with my brain. I'd rather take a slightly wider bezel than the different depths of the overlapped screens.
 
It's not bad in games, it does look wrong in 2d windows though. Maybe it's just because of the depth of my monitor, with a thicker monitor I probably wouldn't stand it too.

This has been done before and has ruined some expensive monitors. Usually it involves screwing up the polarization layer as the AG coating protects it. If you wanted a glossy mirror like screen, why wouldn't you buy it like that in the first place?

In regards to the bolded, this mod makes everything much more clear, similar to what fw900 users do. Assuming it works it's a great way to improve your general lcd experience.
