popup problem

    How do you get rid of those windows messenger popups?




    sorry if its offtopic I didnt know here to put it.

    administrative tools -> component services -> services (local)

    look for 'Messenger'
    open it
    press Stop
    select 'Disabled' from drop down menu
    press OK
    exit administrative tools

    done

    Yeah..that's good. Nevermind the overall problem, let's just bandaid the solution...<temples throbbing>

    Get a firewall. The suggestion above is a silly solution to a larger problem, that of you being on the internet without a firewall.
