popup problem

How do you get rid of those windows messenger popups?




sorry if its offtopic I didnt know here to put it.

administrative tools -> component services -> services (local)

look for 'Messenger'
open it
press Stop
select 'Disabled' from drop down menu
press OK
exit administrative tools

done

Get a firewall. The suggestion above is a silly solution to a larger problem, that of you being on the internet without a firewall.
