I like the look of it for the main reason it looks like all the clutter is gone. It looks simplified and clean. Hopefully it allows for improved navigation in some areas, like the Marketplace, when it comes to browsing game lists, movies and TV shows. Also, from the video and some screenshots I've now seen, there wasn't any ads. I never had a big problem with the ad space, since 99% of the time it was game related, but it took up too much of the screen on most of the blades.
 
We haven't seen enough to really make a decision on it. Just from looking at the couple of screenshots, I'm liking the simplicity though. 8 person party chat will be nice. Hopefully that works just like the private chat does now, just with more people.
 
Voted: Will have to try it. I'm obviously going to need to see it and use it for a better opinion but it looks nice overall. The avatars? Umm... not so much. :rolleyes:

To the person who voted no, what are your reason(s)? So far, from some of the blog comments I've read, the biggest complaint is the avatars. I don't see how that one feature makes or breaks this new dashboard. I'm not saying that's the case with anbody who doesn't like it here, but I'm curious as to why they think so. I like the simplicity.
 
Yes... apparently the old dashboard stays if you want it too. We'll find out exactly soon enough I reckon.

Ya', that's a really good question, and a friend of mine asked the same thing. I have some themes on my 360, but I'm not sure if I've ever paid for any. Usually I just grab the free ones that sometimes become available.

Hopefully, the screenshots we've seen so far, are simply with no theme on... or the default... Then, hopefully, existing themes from the old dasbhoard work on the new one, in that the background is that image, and the button textures change like the blades did on the old dashboard. I guess we'll see.

Hopefully the messaging and FR system is a lot faster. I hate how there is like a 2 second delay for every button you push, + the fact it takes 10 seconds for a voice message to send.
 
I don't really care for the avatars, but the new menu system looks good.
 
I voted "Will wait to try it", but the more I read about and see it the more I want it now.

GameTrailers has an exlusive video walkthrough of the new dashboard, in both standard and high definition formats.

The new Xbox Guide looks so much better, and setup in a way that makes more sense. Currently active downloads is under like personal settions. Navigation on the new guide looks like it'll be easier.
 
I like the one they have now and hate Nintendo's, so i can't imagine liking it anymore once i try it.
 
I'll try it out before i make a judgment on it. I really didn't mind the old design though.
 
I liked the old design, but I will say that it was a tad confusing as to the overall layout in some spots. Nothing that couldn't have been gotten used to, though, and when they introduced the marketplace tab everything became way better organized.

Still, a new interface is welcomed if it is good. I'll wait until I try it out.
 
is there a way to stick to the original dash and have the new features?
 
I think oyu should get to choose, the new interface is too much like Windows Media Center.
 
The original dash is not going away. It's going to be part of the new Guide.

The new updates are going live as part of the Fall Update.
 
Have not even used it yet, aka this poll is pointless for right now...

No one can really hate it yet as they have never sued it, and they will probably tweak it more still before release.
 
I'm excited for something new... I really want to try out netflix on the 360. I have an account right now, and currently stream movies via my laptop to my tv. Quality is watchable, but nothing really amazing. I read somewhere that netflix is going to have better quality streaming later in the year... Hopefully right around the time that Microsoft releases the new interface.

Avatars don't really interest me, but I'm not against it either. Seems to me like riding the coat tails of the PS3's home... Different sure, but do you really think PS3 didn't influence these avatars just a little??...

No, I don't. I think the Wii influenced it.
 
lol yeah thats true.. I guess it really doesn't seem that much like PS3 home... really didn't take the wii into consideration at all... I sometimes forget that the wii is even around, sorry wii owners.. I owned one once and after I sold it I guess I started to subconsciously block it out of my mind. ;)

But to stay on topic, it will be interesting to see if you can decide which dashboard you want to use. I for one want something new.
 
It looks better, the old DashBoard is cluttered and unlike this one isn't very clean. I really hate the avatars though, looks like they were designed for 6 year olds. I just wish though they had a XMB for 360.
 
I like the current blade style better. I just wish they would take off the ads or have an option to not have them show up, they ruin every theme I try to use. 8 person private chat is awesome, the movie viewing with multiple people seems pretty neat also. I hate the avatars, very unnecessary and annoying to me. I'll probably not like it much at all, it would be nice if they plan to have an option to have the current dashboard style instead of the new one after the update.

I think overall I will like it better, but I still want to see it before I pass judgement.

There's probably some irony in that... given that Miis were first used on MSN (look up Wee Mee) and their new interface is pretty much straight from Windows Media Center.
