anyone else have there most recent PMs missing? (like the whole month of august)
 
Same here...really sucks because I had a deal going with someone and my thread and PMs are gone, can't remember his username either :(
 
Yes, and i had 3 deals going and i cant find the people

If anyone delt with someone moving out of the country selling antec 900 ect who lives in arizona, pm me please i believe he had amd in his name
 
Hopefully they will be able to restore the database and get everything back. I too had PMs for a few deals that I woudln't mind having back.
 
As did I....don't remember who from, but it was for a Mini ITX board...if you read this, you should have paypal now for it!
 
I would of thought a site like this which is all about pc's etc would have nightly backups of the database especially as we all know how critical daily backups can be, especially considering that the forums have had problems as of late and maybe just maybe daily backups could of halved the time if not more that which the site was down, thing that gets to me is, they have the mainsite always up, but its always the forums that takes a shit, if they can have stability for one, why not the other.

regardless, the forums are up so it shouldnt be that much of a deal to anyone.

Believe the guys user name is amd2intel. I bought his Seasonic 700W S12 modular power supply from him.

You are selling items on a free forum, make back ups of important information instead of being upset if it is lost.

Don't know about nightly backups, would have probably just backed up the problem right along with everything else. The forum had been going downhill for a week before it crashed.

As far as why [H]ard|OCP stays up, it's on a different server and doesn't have near the load that the forum server(s) do(es).

Yea, probably, tbh, up until this morning when i went to login that was the first I had seen of a problem for a good few weeks.

As for the difference between the main site and the forums, I think the main site stays up as it earns cash compared to the forums which probably doesnt make that much ??? it makes sense to make sure that the money making part atleast stays up and seperate from the forums and also try to make it that touch more bulletproof, I could be wrong but thats what I think.

As for nightly backups, I dunno, it maybe or maybe not would of helped, i really cant say, but hey we are used to the site going up and down so it isnt that big of a deal now, as normally when it does go down its usually for a good 12+ hours at a time :(

I am not complaining or anything as every single website on earth goes down at somepoint, its just a way of life but hopefully once they get it backup properly it will run as smooth as it used to :)
