I need some help. Below are screen shots of my 2x 24/7 Q6600's. I run the GPU2 client on core #3 and the WCG clients on cores #0, #1 and #2. Both boxen are stock Q6600 G0's (2.40 Ghz) and WC'ed with a MCR220 rad and 2x shrouded Yate Loon HS fans pulling under a Sunbeam fan controller. They both have a MCP350 pump with the stock top and a bowed Apogee GT. I know the VGA cards I have are lower tier, but I was just messing around with WC'ing the GPU (for my first time). I was hoping to get a top tier card like a GTXxxx or maybe a ATI card. (which ever is best at the time) The first pics are a Q6600 stock + a low TPD eVGA 8800GS with the shaders OC'ed to 1620. It has a MCW60 WB and 3/8" inch tubes. The second pics are a stock Q6600 + a low TDP eVGA 9600GSO. The 9600GSO has the AccelS1 Rev2 VGA AC'er I took off the 8800. :)

What's troubling me is I set the Real Temp to a 105c degree TJ Max on both CPU's. The GPU's are read by Precision from the eVGA site. I have the rads, pumps, rezes and fans in an external cases on the window sills. (empty cat litter buckets :D) I have temporarily ducted the external cat litter buckets with cardboard and duct tape (I love my duct tape, a computer enthusiasts friend :p) I placed a indoor/outdoor thermometer in the duct and with the window crack open it reads between 10c and 15c degrees. What I was wondering do these temp even look accurate  (ignoring the 9c degree reading, no way it's under the ambient, must be sorry reading) On the eVGA 9600GSO AC'er the ambient temp is about 68f (18c or so, another indoor/outdoor thermometer)

Hell, if you guys
and gals think these temps are even remotely accurate I think I'll start WC'ing the GPU's all the time. (I love my H2O coolin') I got the MCW60 WB for my fire breathing PNY 8800GT, but I screwed it up with those crumby stick on HS's. I'd never use anything but a 1 piece HS from now on or, if I'm flush, a full cover WB ;)

Please tell me what you think even if it's telling me my sensors are bogus. :( Both boxen are crunching as I post, I really don't know what the straight idle would be

The temperature sensors Intel uses in their CPUs are not very accurate at lower temperatures, so chances are that your temps are higher than your readings are telling you. There's no need to worry though; the closer to Tjmax your temperature is, the more accurate the sensors are, so you won't ever have to be concerned with getting improper readings when your CPU is hot.

Thanks for answering Zero82z. I figured the temperature readings may have been less than accurate at lower temps. I'm still not all that "hip" on the TJ Max thing, to me it looks like just subtrating your present temp from the CPU's watt specs. I just do my best following the directions on how to calibrate RealTemp and hope the eVGA Precision program is pre calibrated. Whether my temps are higher or lower is not what I consider some big "nail biting" problem (both CPU and GPU) :) Even if they are higher it's not exactly as if they are way out of spec . The thing I was really concerned about with was if the temp readings are way outa' the ballpark and my sensors were totally f*cked up  That's why I posted the first time and was probably misunderstood. I've posted a second time trying to make my question more clear :D. I wanted to know if my temperature readings were remotely realistic. I'd like to hear from one of the people I know for sure deal with CPU and GPU temps in in a grand way , like Xilikon, Tigerbiten, Sunnin, Kendrak, Smoke, etc or even the guy with the unfreakingbelievable PpD ROC. (you know, someone with many boxen and many top flight GPU's) I'd also like to hear from one of our very experienced "old timers" like Mr relic or BillR (you know the gentleman with the "folding is a road, not a destination" expression or the "you have to be consistant in your folding" expression. I love those expressions ;))

I have no idea about the accuracy of GPU temps since as far as I know there is no proper public documentation of exactly how ATI and nVidia read their GPU temperatures. However, I can tell you for certain that when it is important, your CPU temps will be accurate. There is a steep inaccuracy curve once temperatures start getting low, but once they're past 50C or so, the sensors are quite accurate (at least when it comes to distance to Tjmax).
