Please help me making the PC...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
I would use it generally for high end gaming..Someother activities like creating animation etc could be done sometimes.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Budget is $950-$1000..Excluding mouse,keyboard &monitor.
3) Where do you live?
India(rough estimates of rate would also help me)
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
I want 4Gb ram atleast.Quad core or advanced.Etc
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I wont be reusing any parts.
6) Will you be overclocking?
Am not that expert till now..Maybe after sometime..
7) What size monitor do you have or plan to have?
19'' Samsung..
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within 2-3 weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Dont have much knowledge about them..

Quad core q9450 processor
DVD RW
Geforce 9800GT 1GB..
DP 35 MOTHERBOARD
4 GB RAM ZION (2X2)

You have to PM a mod and ask them to move it into General Hardware.

India? Are you buying all of the parts locally or are you looking for a US-based retailer that could ship it to you?

Your "wish list" in your OP looks fine... but do you have a list of available parts we could look at (from your local store)? Without knowing what you can and can't get, we can't give you very many suggestions.

Ignore the listed prices; based on the components that your local store has, your final build may cost more or less -- or look much differently -- than this build. All I am showing you was an idea (one upon many) as to what your entire system could look like.

The things that could "change" are the processor, motherboard, and memory. Everything else, for the most part, would be compatible with each other regardless of which processor you chose.

The determining factor as to whether or not getting the Core i7 920 would be a "bad deal" would be how much it (along with the X58 motherboard and DDR3 RAM) would cost compared to the Core 2 Quad Q9450 (along with a P45 motherboard and DDR2 RAM). The reason why I recommended the Q6600 over the Q9450 is because it's cheaper yet it performs well at both stock speeds and overclocked. (The Q9450 has been discontinued for the most part here in the US.)

Again, a list of what your local store has -- in terms of available parts -- would help us steer you towards the right direction of your build.
 
India? Wow, it's nice to see people from different countries come on here also. Hehe. But, yah what tiraides listed is a reference you can use as far as what parts to select. Now you need to find out if your local store would carry them though.
 
from what i have seen online PC parts in india are scarce and underdeveloped, if you can find the parts listed by tiraides locally great, but i don't imagine them being cheap, seeing as the 8800gt is at 14200Rs ( indian rupees)
or $284 roughly

I dont really have the list of the local store but i can say that maximum things must be available in the Local Store .I have contacted a Intel Personel(Technical head of Intel, India) about the Details OF Core i7 Series and MotherBoard supporting it.

The price of Core 2 Quad Q450 is Rs 18200 .($364approx)

The Price of Corei7 920 is Rs 16500 ($330approx) ..


Please could you let me know which all motherboards Support Corei7 920 ??
