The community here are full of tech-savy guys. You guys must have the answer to my question! :)

So, I'm planing on another ITX build. This time, using the Antec ISK 300-150 case. The power supply that comes with the case is weak, at just 150W. It wouldn't be able to handle a decent GPU. So I asked myself- "What If i use two PSUs?". of course I have never tried it.
So with all your amazing technology knowledge, I need the answers to a few questions:
Is using two PSU possible/a good idea?
Is there anything that would go wrong with this build?

The 160W pico PSU would power:
-1155 itx mobo
- i5 3570k
- heatsink fan
- SSD

The stock 150W PSU would power:
- the GPU (Powercolor AMD 7750)
- 1 case fan
- HDD
-everything else

or should the Pico run the GPU instead?

You can use two PSU's, as long as you ensure they have a common ground plane and you power them on at the same time or power on peripherals before the motherboard and CPU.

That GPU is powered from the motherboard and thereby the PSU powering the motherboard.

sure you can use an add2psu, but that graphics card has no power plug!

You won't be able to isolate the GPU to give it power. It pulls power from the mobo.

As Jorona and others have pointed out, you won't be able to give that GPU its own GPU because it doesn't have a PCI-E power plug. As such, it actually draws all of its power from the motherboard.

Though odd thing about your build: Why Core i5 3570K? Unless you're able to get that for $180 or less, really no point in getting the Core i5 3570K considering your choice of case which means overclocking is out of the question.

haha I didn't notice the GPU didn't have a PCI-E.

Would it be a good idea if the Stock 150W PSU powers just the motherboard? Or would that cause post problems?

@Danny: I like having a chip to know I could overclock, and I might... Also I live near a Microcenter so I could easily get it for $190 :)

In the way you phrased it, it's impossible since you can't isolate the motherboard. The CPU, RAM, and GPU all draw power from through the motherboard.

If you're actually serious about overclocking, then you should be looking at a different case altogether since the ISK 300-150 won't provide enough cooling for an overclock.

I see, so the two PSU plan wont work after all.

I realize cooling would be an issue with the isk-300 when overclocking. My solution was to remove the HDD/optical drive cage and cut a hole to place a slim 120mm fan. While placing the HDD & SDD above the PSU somehow.

I found this 300W itx PSU This would work nicely with the build. But it might be a little too long.

Pretty sure that still won't provide enough cooling.

The Antec ISK 300-150 uses a proprietary PSU design.
