Anyone have any experiance with Pico projectors? I stumbled on this and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were:

I know it has to be used in a dark room, 50 lumins is dim compared to most projectors, but I've used even dimmer ones successfully on a 100" screen, so...

(if anyone has other suggestions for an inexpensive LED projector I'm open, I dont need HD, most of what I watch on it is SD, though of course higher res is always better ;) )

Out of curiosity, are you looking at pico projectors due to budget or for the need for portability? Maybe both?

Some of both, but mostly for the LED lightsource (tired of spending $300 on a projector and another $100-$200 every year or so to replace the bulb.) My den can be completely closed off from daylight so I dont need a super-bright projector, and most of the LED projectors are all in the ~$200-$250 price range, so this gives me what I need at a lower cost (much lower over the likely 5-10 year lifespan of the projector) and adds portability so I can also use it for presentations.

So really I'm looking at
#1 LED
#2 minimum of 25 lumens
#3 cost
#4 Portability

If I could find an LED projector that's at least 640x480 for less I wouldn't care how big it was, likewise if I could find one that was LED and natively supported 1080p for slightly more I would bite, right now this seems to be the best option.

On a side note, I also looked at laser projectors but from what I've read they're currently having a lot of issues with tracking/alignment producing a "glimmer" effect which turned me off to them, but if there's one that's inexpensive and doesn't have that problem I'd also look at that. The big thing for me is I dont want to have to keep a close watch on the lamp-life and replace it (and it will *always* burn out at the worst time - had a nice long 4-day weekend and my current projector's lamp died on me (and will cost ~$200 to replace due to age so it's cheaper to just but a new projector) dont want to keep going through this)
