Phenom II PPD?

sirmonkey1985 was folding on his Phenom II 940 during the Chimp Challenge. With two Linux VMs and his CPU running at 3.5GHz, he was getting around 2800-2900PPD per client if I recall correctly.
 
That's pretty impressive. I get only slightly less than that with my C2Q @ 3.4 GHz.

From the sound of things, the Phenom II gets about the same PPD as a Kentsfield Core2Quad at similar clock speeds.

probably.. id like to see some one run the notfred client with a 940 @ 3.5ghz with a board that correctly supports a 940.. since im only running at 1.6ghz(3.2ghz) HT.. stock for the 940 is 1.8ghz(3.6ghz) HT and can easily be overclocked up to 2ghz(4ghz) HT..

hmm...my C2Q Q6600 is oc'd to 2.7ghz and it does about 4500ppd, that is with 2 notfred vm's
 
My 940 on an MSI K9A2 gets about 5K PpD. The board only recently recognized the 940. My 940 is at stock speeds, stock voltages, and stock HSF.

I doubt it would make any difference. F@H is limited by computation speed, not communication bandwidth, since the actual data traffic is very small.
 
My 720 with a single VM gets about 2910 ppd at 3.5 Ghz. It completes 1% of a 1920 pointer ever 9:30. It runs about 49 degrees Celcius while also supporting a HD4890 folding. I just need some more video cards to finish loading that 3rd core.

not bad... so i guess the higher HT speed only makes up for about 100ppd extra or so..
 
Your output is probably because of the clock speed your CPU is running at. If you overclocked more, you would probably see a big difference in points output.

It doesnt go any higher. motherboard just doesnt like it...its a MSI P6N Diamond. If you know anyone that has a Q6600 on this board I would definitely give it more chances...

Edit. I actually found an old article about this board and the OP was stuck at 1199 FSB (which is what I am at). The posters said that 12% voltage on the VTT will break the 1200 FSB barrier. I will try it tonight or tomorrow...
