just curious what cpu coolers you guys are using on your phenom II's,or procs in general,im looking for a cheap cooler that will keep my proc around 55C while folding

Well I'm using stock w/MX-2 instead of whatever it comes with. Folding, I get about 55-58C, but it's a lot louder than I would like. You might also take a gander toward the cooling forum; someone just made a post there asking a similar question.

I'm using stock as well, and it's currently at 57C while running BOINC. I haven't overclocked, though.

Can you get TRUE S's with AMD brackets? If so, that would be my vote, quiet and cool, and cheap!!

no not with the cogage or what ever that heatsinks called. sunbeam core contact, H50, and most rifle style heatsinks will work fine. im currently using a thermaltake big typhoon VX running a phenom II 940 @ 3.5ghz 1.49v full load is around 50-53C. hate the heatsink but it works.

I'm using a xigmatek 1283 for my 1055T, It runs about 51C while folding at 3.36 Ghz.

Rolling with a Cooler Master Hyper 212+. Keeps my unlocked Phenom X2 in the low to mid 30's while gaming and under 40 while running Prime95 all while running at 4GHz. Gotta love that.

Used to use a Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer to keep my Thuban at 3.8, now i use a H50 keep it at 4.0 :D

the CCF was used on a Phenom II X2 550BE, at 4.0 as well

using a Zalman 8700 on my X4, keeps it at 49C while running smp on all 4 cores and 2 GPUs folding for the Horde as well. easy to install, blue LED if your into blingage and radial pattern spreads air to surrounding 'sinks. think I paid somewhere around $34 cdn for it. ;)

Another vote for the Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus. Monstrous but effective. My 1055t overclocked to 3.5ghz tops out at 42C

listen to these people. proud owner of two Hyper 212s. They go toe to toe with the TRUE for 1/2 the price.

hyper 212 or the core contact freezer are the 2 that I have been really considering since last night, the spire thermax eclipse II is the cooler I really want, but 71$ after tax and shipping is just a little to high for me.

thanks for all the input

The Hyper 212 Plus is currently $15 after rebate and free shipping at Newegg.

That is a slamming deal.

Great question. There have been some 1155 mobo previews floating around. Maybe dig through them

I would assume since it fits 1156 it would fit, but who knows.

Sad to hear the ninja mini is EOL. It is a deadly combo with antec htpc chassis.

I have the NSK2480 and had a AMD630 in it for a HTPC/folding rig. Worked awesome :)

I use a Zalman CNPS9900A LED.
http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=356

Bought it with amd be 940 for obviously quite some time ago.
Manage to run it at 3520 to 36xx with folding issues at 3.6xx,give or take 50c at 3.52.
(folding and games gets unstable with higher speeds, gets too hot then so the fan doesn´t cut it with that.)

Btw that zalman aint too bad,but they have some cheapish models that cost roughly half of it wich is POS,have two of those, using amd´s stock cooler on 1090T instead, and replaced an intel s775 stock with one zalman, but anything is better than intel s775 stock. They all comes with way cool blue led though
