I am in search of a way to set the affinity of an application for good. I have to open the application, and then change its affinity every instance. I want something so that the affinity is set when I start the application every time.
 
vista or xp ?

(there is a util out there, but need to know the os so I find the right one, I used to use it but lost it during xover to the new machine. )
 
XP sorry, should have stated that. There is a program? Google just returned a bunch of other people asking questions like me, no applications.
 
hmm according to that it is their tool !!! LOL. thanks I am paranoid about "stray" utilities with new machine, my game thanks you. :D
 
^Before I download it can you guys tell me if it can set the affinity differently on 2 processes named exactly the same?

VMware each Virtual Machine is "wmware-vmx.exe" and everytime I reboot or restart VMware i have to manualy set the affinity so SMP folding doesnt trip over itself (using only 2 cores per vm machine)
 
Not sure I can answer that. However, I downloaded and installed it, works great except for one thing, in the cmd window you have to put the application in quotes, their example shows the code without quotes, it wont work that way.
 
Now, can anyone tell me a quick way to use this app for a number of file at once?

C:\PCD1\PCD.exe
C:\PCD2\PCD.exe

I am figuring a batch script, but don't know a lot about writing them.

From the little I understand it modifies the "image" i.e. the executable itself. If the same .exe is loaded twice, the affinity of both will be set to the same core(s).
