I was looking a bit at the Go 6800 Ultra when it struck me.
Here we have a accordingly to [H]ardOCP's Go 6800 Ultra review:

Compared this to the 6800Ultra:

So we got a 12 pipe card, giving similar and/or better preformance to a 16 pipe card.
So would a G70 if based on the same pipes as in the Go 6800 Ultra, but with 24 pipes, not be about 2 x as fast at the 6800 Ultra?

ati's chip is rumored to be 32 pipes so i expect nvidia to be 32 pipes.

performance should be about double last generation if i had to guess.
