I need to buy a monitor to finish my build. I have a sapphire 4870 1gb card. I want to know the performance impact/difference between 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 in gaming. I'll be playing mostly Crysis, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, etc.... I don't wanna sacrifice fps on the 1080p monitor that cause me to lower details and settings.

I'm only considering the 1080p monitor because I have a PS3 and thought it would be neat to hook it up to it.

Unfortunately most benchmarks are either for 1680x1050 and 1920x1200, but I would say it should be somewhere in between.

I would think that the 4870 1GB model should be great even with some level of AA applied for 1080p resolution on these games.

In my experience with a 8800GT the performance differences between 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 are minimal. I'd buy a 1920x1200 resolution monitor just based on more vertical resolution. This will be highly useful with common tasks like web browsing etc.

I have the original Sapphire 4870 1GB. Got it because I use texture packs in Oblivion (among other things) and they can take up to 700 or 800 MB VRAM, and the card handles it beautifully.
