Could somebody tell me the difference between the Pentium D 915 and 920. Both seem to be LGA775, dual core 2.8ghz, 2mb cache each core, with somwhat drastically differenct prices.

Newegg doesnt have the 920, my guess is the 915 replaced the 920, and you are seeing old pricing on the 920?

The 915 doesn't have VT (virtual Technology). It should also be C1 stepping instead of B1 and it should be a better overclocker

The 920 was proved to be an awesome overclocker, i don't know why it's not available now.

I purchased two 920 chips, one for a friend and one for myself. My friends is running at 3.8Ghz per core and mine is stable at 4.2Ghz per core.

nice, what did u do.. cause, i can't get mine past 3.63. with a freezer pro 7 heatsink.

mine hit 3.73+ GHz (965 EE speed) with stock voltage.

It took a little more to hit 3.9Ghz

and a lot more to hit 4+ Ghz.

So I settled for 3.9Ghz, b/c it runs a lot cooler there.

Are you about as fast or faster, slower than a FX-62 at that speed? 3.9GHz ?

Curious

Can you or someone give me what that speed means, 3.60 ~ 3.90GHz next to an AMD?

Very curious

Newegg had the 940D retail for $190 with free shipping yesterday. I picked one up. I guess all the 9xxDs will be dropping a lot in the next coupla weeks...

I'm close to an FX-62, depending on the benchmark. I'm quite a bit faster than a 965EE, but thats b/c the FSB is overclocked. Though my shit will be owned by Core 2.

you can see my 3dmark benchmarks at: http://www.crowdcontrolusa.com/overclock/shizzy2.html

you can use 3dMark2001 as a good indicator of CPU performance.

Yeah, I got 13,500 in 3dMark 05' and 33,300 in 3dMark 2001 SE.

I decided to go ahead and buy the e6800 extreme tomorrow if I cannot get the e6600 from Newegg or another spot.

I have the money. So, why not I guess.

I even put the Core 2 Duo Extreme in my Sig. lol, Just gotta go to Microcenter in KC along with $1,100 dollars. Ouch. haha
