PCIe SATA controller cards: Performance?

So bottom line, the U3S6 works well?

It's worth it's weight in Gold........Fools gold. :)

Here's my Crucial 256GB C300 with the Asus card.....

And here's the same drive on the Intel ports.....

Look good to you?

Your drives don't need SATAIII so maybe SATAII mechanical drives won't look so bad but as you can see, this controller isn't up to the task for SATAIII SSD drives.

I have an U3S6 board sitting here with one day operating time on it...........

Just for shits and giggles, here's the same drive with my LSI card....

Just another case of you get what ya pay for.

Ok, so two people with opposite results. I'm only going to use the U3S6 for my mechanical drives then and only use two of my SSDs (one on each SATA III port on my motherboard).

Necro res steven, lol. I think the OP made his decision about 2 months ago. ;)

You have hard drives. There aren't any that top SATA 2 speeds. That expansion card performs worse on top of that.

lol what have you been smoking.

Op if your going to use to hook up to scratch disks with video editing purposes then yes they are worth it. But for normal uses use the onboard

no, Blue Fox is correct, no HDD in existence can top SATA-II speeds (300MB/s).

Even the best HDDs can only hit about 160MB/s tops, that's barely above the SATA-I standard.

Also, this thread is almost 2 months old and the OP already made his decision long ago, just fyi. ;)

If you're going to dispute something, bring proof instead of just going for quantity like you seem to be. Seriously, quit going for post count records. The post above mine explains things, so I won't do it again.
