Good evening. I'm doing a bit of an upgrade, and I just wanted to post the current and planned parts here to make sure there were no glaring errors or compatibility issues.

Current:
Motherboard - Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
RAM - 2GB Corsair DDR2-800
Processor - AMD 6400+
Video card - EVGA 7950 GX2
HDD: Seagate 160 GB, Seagate 250 GB
Win XP 32-bit Home SP3

Purchases:
Vista-64 Home Premium OEM (already picked up)
8GB OCZ RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227269
Visiontek HD 4870

Thank you,

No compatibility issues, but I have a few questions...

- Which monitor/resolution are you using?
- Which games/programs are you running?
- Is the 2GB of RAM you currently have a single DIMM or a 2x1GB kit?
- Did you purchase the RAM and/or video card yet?
- Why do you need 8GB of memory?

In order:
- I use an Acer AL2051W at 1680x1050.
- My intensive computer use comes in the form of 3d software such as Blender and Max. I do game occasionally, but I don't often play big graphics titles. My most recent game was Sins of a Solar Empire; before that was Neverwinter Nights 2. That said, I'd like to be able to play new releases in the future - I don't plan on upgrading for a while after this.
- I currently have a 2x1GB kit.
- I haven't purchased anything except the OS yet, in case the wise readers of [H] suggested a better option.
- I want 8GB for a few reasons: I'd like to increase smoothness when using 3d programs; I'd like to decrease render and physics simulation times; I'd like to ensure that even several years into the future, I can easily multitask; and, to be frank, though it is the least of the reasons, it bothers me knowing memory is relatively cheap and I'm only using a quarter of what my motherboard can support.

Thanks,
Tarrosion
