PC shuts down due to heat.

Hi, I have been experiencing random shutdowns recently.
I am fairly certain that it is a heat related issue as it only happens on a hot day. Once the pc shuts down, the only way to get it started again is to switch off the psu for a few seconds, then turn it back on.

I have tried replacing psu but that did not fix the problem. The cpu temp rarely goes over 50, so I do not suppose that is the cause either.

What is my next step here? Could it be the motherboard that is causing the issue?
Any help would be appreciated.

Install some temperature reading programs to monitor your temperatures. RealTemp, CoreTemp, GPU-Z (for GPU temps), Speedfan, etc.

I have everest and realtemp installed and according to those programs, core temps and gpu temp only go up to 55 or so at maximum for the stuff that I do.

Well leave the case door off and see what happens.

what temperature does "hot day" mean?

What are the complete specs of the computer (including make and model of both old and new PSUs)?

90+ degrees outside.
i7 920@2.66, Asus P6T Deluxe V2, OCZ XMP DDR3 1600, Radeon HD 4670, Corsair CMPSU-750TX (old/new).

We need the COMPLETE specs -- including the case, HSF, and fans being used.

Regardless, that OCZ RAM may influence some factors. Its voltage level is 1.65V, which is the limit for safe operations with Intel processors.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
Intel Core i7 920 (Stock speed)
WD VelociRaptor 300GB
Gigabyte Radeon HD 4670 1GB
OCZ XMP DDR3 1600 (3 X 1GB)
Lite-On 20x DVD±RW Dual-Layer Burner, Lite-On 4x Blu-ray Reader
Raidmax Saggita
Corsair TX 750W
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme
Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1

OCZ RAM is set at 1.66v as the asus bios only lets me choose either 1.64v or 1.66v.
I have 3 120mm Gelid fans running at 1800rpm or so.

What's the model number of the Gelid fans?

What's the age of the old PSU compared to the new one?

Have there been any other parts that you've replaced recently?

See if you can mount a small fan over the northbridge or w/e.

I am gonna get one of those 40mm fans for northbridge and see what happens.
Just gotta figure out how I am going to attach it since my cpu cooler is slightly blocking upper screw holes.

Thanks for all the help you've given me and hopefully, I won't have to come back and bump this thread. :)

Although attaching a fan over nb did bring the temp down by at least 5 or so, that did not stop the shutdowns either..

Rather than going through asus service to get a refurbished board, I decided to try out another brand (evga). So, fingers crossed I guess...
