Hello friends.

I am nvidia xfx 8800gt alpha dog 512MB display card and i was using original driver from cd which came with the display card box.

everything was running smooth even crysis and moh-airborn & pacific assault and even crysis war-head and assisin creed.

when i start playing far cry-2 i got the message that drive is too old and i should upgarde and after that it start the game which still works properly.

now, recently i have upgraded my display card driver and driver was downloaded from nVodia offical site according to my o/s (xp-pro) and display card (8800GT)

now i can still play crysis & crysis war-head and even starting far cry-2 normally but problem is only in far cry-2 and that is whenever i am collection medic kit, my computer screen just flash (blue screen comes) and pc is restarting.

i was using max resolution (1280x10nn somthing) when above problem happend.

then i reduced my game resolution 1280x9nn (something) and now far cry-2 is again working as normal...

but i want to play game in full resolution and don't know exactly what and where is the problem... may b a faulty display driver... then how to fix it...

i am using c2q 6600 4gb-ram and got lot of free HD space...

need ur help and pls let me know if u need more info to solve my problem....

thanks for everybody.

What card are you using right now? If you had an 8800GT Alpha Dog, then what are you using now?

As long as you got the latest Nvidia drivers you should be fine. Maybe check the rest of your system and make sure it's updates as well: Chipset drivers, etc..

You can use a program like HWMonitor from www.cpuid.com to watch the temperatures of you card. It is acting like it is overheating, or defective.

Have you ever sent your your 8800gt back for repairs? Its probably bad or something. I had a problem with my xfx 8800gt alpha dog and I had to send it in to xfx.

I was getting random blue screens. I sent it in and got it back and it seems to be fine now.

still using the same 8800GT A-dog from XFX
Temp is ok and its around 45-48 while playing Far cry 2 or even with Crysis (1 & 2)

but why only with 1 game... rest all games or any application is not giving any problem.

This is the game that is giving your power supply and video card a work out. I'd almost promise it's your power supply.

interesting,,, only 1 game is having problem with PSU where all other games are running smoothly.

u guys r missing 1 think. let me explain again:

1 funny thing that might give u some idea:

while playing far cry 2 my pc only only only reboot whenever i take medic and about to move from that place.

for examlpe, if i go close to the medic box and move from there without taking medic (or without pressing 'e') then pc doesn't reboot.
only after taking medic from any medic box it reboooooooot.

In that case check your memory. I have had a similar issue with Q4 a while back when I'd perform certain functions in the game, it would reboot my system (my old X2 system). Come to find out I had a bad stick of ram.

I would check your memory also. I had the same thing happen to me where in the middle of some games I would get a reboot. Turns out one of my memory sticks had gone bad.

again u guys r missing 1 thing.
why pc should reboot only on 1 particular spot and why only with 1 game.

mwvirk, why do you keep arguing people recommendations based off of what you don't want to be at fault?

To humor you: Reinstall the game.

Did you read what I posted? Check your memory. If memtest comes back ok, then just reinstall the game and humor everyone as Danny Bui pointed out.

Well you did say that if you decrease the resolution it works better. Maybe by increasing the resolution you are using more memory and access the bad part of the memory which causes a crash.

Are you overclocking? If you are, try it out at stock speed and see if that helps.

bcoz its not memory or power supply problem. why someone cannot understand that using old driver, its not giving any problem. problem happend only after upgrading the driver.

and i m not OC'ng anything.

My problem has been solved and now its may be problem for FarCary team or nVidia.

here was then problem:

using original driver i was not having any problem while playing FarCary2.

Installed new/latest driver from nVidia site.

FarCry2 is now crashing and PC is rebooting when only I'm taking Medic box and only when
I'm using 1280x1024 resolution but no problem if game is running on 1280x960

Uninstall new driver and downgraded to old driver (1 which came with the card)

Now FarCry2 is playing again fine using any resolution.

So, it might be a driver (nVidia) problem or Game (FarCry Team) problem.

Can someone please guide me what should I do to upgrade the driver and running all games smoothly.

Thanks for everybody for your support.
