WTF!?

Jonny, I have the highest respect for you & your reviews.

I even posted & linked some of your reviews at DFI & EOC & have posted "If Jonny says it, you can believe it".

I apologize, if I have offended you.

Please email me.

Thanks,
Dave
Something about a horse and a barn door... great job.

Jonny, what will it take for you to keep at it? I think you're doing a wonderful job.

of course none of us wanted to see jonnyGURU take his site down....

By JonnyGURU`s own admission many many times in the past he has never ever reviewed a PC Power & Cooling PSU......
He has never ever taken one apart.....
In fact there are not many people who have even taken apart any of the PC Power & Cooling PSU`s except maybe the 850 and the 1k....in the last year or so who can even comment intelligently that they actually still use TEAPO CAP`s....
Thus it would seem to those of us who do own them and can vouche for them in this case JonnyGURU could be wrong......
I have heard many others besides myself state that what you get if you buy one is NOT what is shipped to the good peeps over at PC Power & Cooling!!
They do change them in ways we will never know!!
But it would be nice if somebody would possibly donate a PC Power & Cooling 510 Deluxe or Turbo ands lets se if in fact they do make changes under the hood after the fact..maybe see if they still use TEAPO CAPs....

As much as I respect Mr GURU and his diligent research and honestly truthful reviews...still........in the end it matter not which PSU you use...it matters not how much it costs...it matters not whethr its generic or top of the line....it matters not what the ER is....all that totally matters is....
Are you happy with what you are using!!

Jonny, these are not "rebadged" Seasonic PSU's, Seasonic makes them to PC P&C's specs.

Given PC P&C's reputation, warranty, customer service & excellent reviews, these are among the best PSU's available.

Dave

Now let's look at the reputation of TT & Ultra!

There's nothing wrong with using Teapo in a SMPS, and I know for a fact JG shares my opinion on this matter. PC P&C uses a different OEM for the Turbocools, Win-Tact... it is these models that will be most likely to use Teapo rather than the Seasonic made stuff (though Seasonic has used Teapo themselves in the past).

hmmm, looks like a JG review. the thing is not many ppl know what will make them happy. and they wanna know before they buying. which is why they come to a forum and ask. there are plenty of ppl happy with their deer made psu's on newegg. but just because product x is good enough for someone else doesnt mean its good for the majority. and thats what people come to this forum in search for, a quality power supply that wont shit on them.

i find it kinda ironic how this mess started. and not to blame dave, cause i dont think it was his actions alone, however he does give ocz high praise and freely bashes ultra. but lets not forget where ocz came from. initially they were very shady and sent hand picked sticks of ram to reviewers. eventually they shook off that rep and became one of the best in the business. it took a while. i see Ultra in the same light. their initially offering has burned many people and now everyone associates them with a bad psu. since the x-connect debacle they've tried really hard to clean up their act. offering nearly free psu's, probably to make up for their mistakes. they got a representative in this forum willing to help anyone, supposed good customer service, and a forum.

now TT might be a different story. they're taking too long to clean their act. hopefully they can at least build on one success.

For expert advise on PSU's, I look no further than jonnyGURU...always an HONEST delivery with the goods to back it up. Don't bow down to Davey Hamsmuck jonny....we all know you are THE VERY best ;)

Thanks for all your help sir!

Thanks for that link sn_85, which is indeed a site where JG reviews some PSU's and the PC P&C model.
You only need to read the style of reporting to know it is JG without reading the authors name at the top :D
Some names of PSU's cause a giggle whenever mentioned, most rightly so, but some are doing their best to put out a quality unit...........Thermaltake being one of them.
I like a lot of Thermaltake products, and up to now, their PSU's have not been up to scratch, and I would not have bought one. However, I have been looking at a new PSU and after reading reviews (inc JG's) I had a short list between OCZ GX's, Thermaltake Toughpower, PC P&C 750 Silencer and the Corsair 620W HX20.
After much head scratching and money juggling I bought and installed the Corsair.
I discounted the PC P&C unit as being too pricey, and maybe noisey, so it was a very hard choice between the other three, but after re-reading JG's (and other reviews) I chose the Corsair, and I am pleased with choice..........my wife is not quite so pleased with the £111 (inc p&p) (some £60 cheaper than the 750 silencer) I have just spent, so it is probably going to cost me about the same in blood money........... :D
I like JG's reviews, as I like his style of reporting, even on crap units, he still manages to find something good about them..........not a lot, but some, and I am just enjoying his reviews on a Powmax unit at the above site.......... :D

jonnyguru.com works, it leads straight to psu inquisitor, which has a note:

Note from jonny: I'm fine. Thanks. My absense is not one man's actions. So don't be too hard on any one individual that you might think is the reason I took the blog down. Many readers and those in the industry have been very critical despite he fact that I'm perfectly willing to back up everything I say, and am always willing to admit when I'm wrong. I do this for fun. Bottom line. But when I'm constantly criticized, it's just not fun anymore. Three more reviews are already in the works, so I might as well finsih them: Silverstone ST85ZF, Antec Trio 650W and a Scythe 550W. After that, you guys are on your own.....

Of course i know that...we had this sort of discussion before.....but the people who are dead set against this particular brand always bring the CAPs up....
If I remmeber correct you were the one who told me perhaps in a PSU environment Teapo CAPs are OK!!

Albeit I now own 3 PC Power & Cooling PSU`s....
I`m using the 1k for my newest Intel build :)

Have a nice weekend!!

Thank You for that site!! I stand only partially corrected though....
Jonny told me that he has never testd a PC Power & Cooling PSU for his site that he has recently taken down.

All is good and I thank you for pointing this out to me!!

This thread is so far off track and has not had what I would call good results. So this thread is done.....in the future lets all try and play nice so we don't have a repeat of this incident. Hopefully those people who were involved have learned from this and those who have left will rejoin when they so choose.
