One of my systems seems to be having a major boot issue. This started after a hard shutdown because the system wouldn't power down normally.

It will currently boot into the options menu that allows me to boot into Windows normally or repair files. If I try going straight into Windows, I'll get the "Starting Windows" boot screen, but there will be no Windows flag animation. Nothing happens.

Trying to repair files takes me to the recovery screen, but it is unable to detect any Windows installations. It gives me the option to load some drivers at the bottom, but I didn't go any further than that.

It's probably important to note that if I try to restart the system, the SSD (Vertex 2) can no longer be detected. Restarting will take me to a screen that tells me the boot device can't be found. The SSD will only come back after powering down the system and starting it up again.

Since OCZ apparently sucks... is it an SSD issue?
 
Reset CMOS just to rule out a bad BIOs save. But yeah wouldn't be surprised if it was that OCZ SSD. Also, try booting from a Linux Mint LiveCD and see if it's just a motherboard boot issue.
 
I tried setting everything to default in the BIOS, but no go.

For some reason, the SSD shows up in the BIOS, but Windows can't seem to detect it, so I can't perform any kind of repair.

I ordered another SSD and will be re-installing Windows on that. Hopefully, the Vertex 2 will be recognized through that installation and files can be recovered.

I will never buy or even look at another OCZ product again.
 
I ended up getting a Kingston. Seems to be working fine so far.

I've been trying to recover data from the Vertex 2, but the problem is that Windows won't recognize it despite it showing fine in the BIOS. I'm in the process of updating drivers and such and hoping it'll show, as I'm not sure what else to do. I guess my last resort is flashing the firmware, which I actually tried to do earlier, but their crappy software requires an internet connection. Since the OCZ tools are booted in a Linux environment, I had no clue how to get my wireless USB adapter working.
