PC ICE or fluid XP?

im at a toos up on what one to get any one have any info on whats better?


PC Ice is specially formulated for today's PC water cooing systems. It has been designed to improve cooling capacity while maintaining a safe water cooling environment for expensive components in your PC. PC Ice is non conductive, non toxic, and environmentally safe as it is also biodegradable. This fluid is safe to use on all plastics, rubbers and gaskets as well as the metals of your water blocks and radiators. By using this fluid you will also be able to prevent galvanic corrosion cause by cross metal contamination caused by using both aluminum and copper. In addition, PC Ice contains lubricating properties that can even increase the life span of a high flow pump.

This fluid is non biodegradable and not for consumption or usage in any other environment other than for anti corrosion to metal parts within a water cooling system.

If I remember correctly, the dye used in PC Ice is a powdered dye and, as a result, many have reported it separating out from the liquid with time. This results in clumps of particulate junk floating around in your loop, getting sucked through your pump (potentially causing wear), possibly clogging impingement-based waterblocks (i.e. Storm), etc. The best you can get (performance wise) would be straight distilled water with some Zerex coolant additive and an anti-algae agent.

A "non-conductive" coolant is not a substitute for careful planing, execution, and common sense. However, if you feel you must have a non-conductive coolant, from the two you listed, FluidXP would be a better choice. Though, some of that DangerDen MCT-5 may be a suitable substitute... haven't used it, though.

QFT. PC ICE's die is a powder, and it can seperate from the liquid. Nuff said. Don't get it. Fluid XP is overpriced. Petra pretty much nailed it. Go with Distilled water and antifreeze (zerex is good, but I would use pentosin over that). If you must have non-conductive fluid, than DangerDens MCT-40 is your best bet. Keep in mind though, that only works so well. If you mix it with anything, it can loose its lack of conductivity.

something i wanted to correct(just noticed).
the back of the bottle of PC Ice says it is non-toxic AND biodegradable.

I still vote for MCT-40.
 
I remember reading somewhere they did a test with various non-conductive coolants and they found that PC Ice was indeed conductive. Personally, I think non-conductive coolants are not needed at all if you've planned, executed and tested your watercooling system properly.
 
I've been happy with the reformulated Blue PC Ice. It's not cheap, but not horrendously overpriced either. :)
 
I can testify to PCice being conductive. I had a leak and it smoked my video card and motherboard

honestly IMO as long as you make sure you use distilled water and add a little bit of anticorrosive like Zerex or Pentosin, you will be fine. I hear those fluids lower cooling properties, some will gum up the pump, some will fog up the tubing, and some really are conductive even when labeled as non conductive.

Either way when there is a leak in your system, you're going to need to clean it up, I've had a computer survive spills of regular water fine, just turn them off, dry them out, and make sure they're clean.
