pc freezing on multiplayer games only

Cant get into post this in gaming section wont let me sorry,
but it might be a hardware fault for some reason i cant play multilayer games mainly call of duty games the pc freezes completely freezes BUT i can play single player mode fine.

Xp home
7800 GTX
legit copy games
2gb ddr
intel 2 core

Reinstall your NIC drivers?
 
Yes the games are call of duty4 and 5 i will update my nic drivers as soon as i get home but
i am sure there up-to-date.
 
No luck i am completely baffled because i could play these games online last week now whenever i start call of duty 4 or cod 5 on multilayer it instantly crashes and pc locks up but single player is fine hmmm very baffled.

Scanned for viruses nothing i guess i need to reinstall
