Hi all,
Looking to put together a PC for my mom, who will be using the PC for lower end power user tasks like Office apps, web browsing, family photo stuff but nothing picasa couldnt handle, web games, etc. No gaming or tv on the PC. I'm looking to build her something that will last, and is good bang for the buck, not necessarily bottom of the barrel.
I'd budget at the $500-600 range, but if it needs to go higher I'm flexible.
I have a Microcenter nearby and live in the US
I'll need everything except mouse and keyboard - case, mobo, ram, hdd, psu, optical drive, and if people have good ideas on dual 22"+ monitors for her (not included in budget) I'll take tips on those as well
I'll be building asap, and have no OS, so hopefully I can snag a HDD/OS combo for a good price.
She is interested in a smaller form factor, but I think a normal ATX case that is of the smaller variety would be fine. If there are good small form factor options out there, especially the slim ones as opposed to the toasters, that would be perfect as long as there aren't heat issues.
I'm not scared to OC, but would rather not have to go through a ton of effort to do it. If something OC's nicely with stock cooling, or with a simple fan or heatsink, feel free to include.
