Pc building help $1500

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming and work in maya/3dsmax

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Under 1500 would be nice taxes and shipping inc prefered

3) Where do you live?
Canada

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Ram, Mobo, processor, video card, SSD ( depending on price), possibly psu depending on if mine is strong enough or not.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

6) Will you be overclocking?
Probably not since I have never done it before

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
22inch samsung 1680 x 1050

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
This week hopefully

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.

All of that should be under $1500. Oh did you need a new case as well?
 
Im hoping to use my antec 900 case

I7 2600k run better for Maya over the I5 2500k ?

Which case would u reccomend then ?

Also for the 100ish bucks more is the HT .1 ghz really worth it ? Just curious since I was looking at the I5-2500k vs I7-2600k aside from HT and a few other things i was debating on performance difference vs Price difference.

I will probably pick up the Haf 922mid tower, thanks for the suggestions

I currently have a Enermax liberty 620W power supply think that will be enough power ? Trying to salvage whatever I can from my old system if possible hate seeing it all go to the waste side
 
How old is the Enermax Liberty?

Regardless, I recommend buying the new PSU just to be on the safe side. The performance capability of any PSU degrades over time, but even faster under constant heavy load (over 60% of its maximum rated power).
 
The power supply is from 08 and this computer has never really been run very hard untill i decided to do my university maya design work on it, before that i mostly played some starcraft wow nothing with a overly heavy load and i was running a HD 4870 card on it.

Hmmm... still a little hesitant in recommending that you reuse that Liberty PSU. The Liberty design wasn't really that great. Considering the level of hardware I recommended, I also strongly suggest getting a new PSU. I mean you do have a $1500 CAD budget so a new PSU isn't out of the question.

Very true right now my cart is sitting around 1200 with tax shipping ect.

Really bad choice for a SSD: The OCZ Vertex 2 is uses the Sandforce SF-1200 controller whose real world performance does not match the stated specifications. Its real world performance is rather bad compared to Crucial, Intel and some Corsair SSDs. And on top of the already slow performance, OCZ did a change a few months back to those SSDs that made them even slower. And then there's OCZ's not-so-good track record when it comes to SSDs in general and their not-so-good customer support.

So all in all, a really bad choice.
 
Figured there was a decent reason behind the fact that the OCZ ssd was cheaper then the Intel 80gb i was looking at getting figured I would see if someone had some info before i decided to purchase this just due to its sheer cheaper price.

Crap. just noticed a possible issue: How much more the 120GB version of the SSD you chose? Here in the U.S, the price difference between the 80GB and 120GB is so small that one is better off with the 120GB version.
 
The 80gb intel 320 is 179.99

the 120gb OCZ is 204.99 with $30 mail in rebate making it 174.99 once all is said and done

the 120gb intel 320 is 240.00

I mean the 120GB Intel, not the OCZ.

The OCZ is still a bad choice even at that $175 price point.

I already ordered the Haf 922 it should be here within the next couple of days im just making the cart now to buy the bracket to hold my ssd and heatsink
 
Why the V6? The Hyper 212 Plus is a cheaper yet equally capable alternative.
 
Ahhh ok.... Since ssd's just need to be secured to something alot of people just do some diy work and fit em in somewere with stuff around the house
