I'm building the system below and I am wondering if the RAM will be a problem for overclocking the system.

Gigabyte P35 DQ6
Intel Q6600 G0 + Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme
Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12
OCZ 700 Watt PSU

I don't know much about the RAM, so I'm wondering if it is going to be a problem

No it should not be any issue.

Most if not all current ram has preprogrammed settings to make sure it will boot with any board/settings. What you will discover after you fire it up is that the memory will be running at something like 5 5 5 15 (for compatibility). You then go into the bios and manually set your manuf advertised timings and voltage. Actually I recommend you do not do this (well maybe up the memory voltage a bit) until you see where your CPU will run if you plan to overclock. You do not want your memory geting in the way as CPU MHz are more powerfull than memory MHz/bandwidth.

Set your memory divider to 2.0 until you figure out what your FSB is going to be. This will underclock your ram but again, it makes sure the ram is not holding you back while you find the "sweet spot" with the CPU. Then go in and see about entering in the better ram specs, setting to manuf voltage recommendations and perhaps running a memory mulitplier that will increase the ram performance.

This applies to your board and has recommended startting BIOS settings for stability and OCing and detailed instructions for setting your ram timings with an example. This thead also has a method of determining exactly what your ram is capable of, but again, do the CPU first.

I almost have all of your hardware. Same mobo, cpu, cooler, ram. You shouldn't have a problem getting your cpu to >3GHz

guess i am a little late to the party, but this memory kinda sucks for overclocking. I have it, wish I did not.
