I wanted some peoples opinion about how to get a temperature gauge on a passive heatsink. My buddy is going to be installing one of those 3.5 bay's that has two temp gauges that you should put on the processor and case/videocard, etc. It isn't sticky at the end, so in you opinion, what is the best way to get it to stick to the passive heatsink on a video card?

A dot/smear of Arctic epoxy to glue it to the side (as low down on the HS as you can) of whatever he is monitoring is probably the easiest. You are never going to get it off again however and even if you "cut" the epoxy with "regular" thermal compound it is iffy getting it off due to the delicate nature of the thermistor/wiring.

Frag tape is another solution but its hard to find sometimes, this is just a mylar tape. Hell probably a little piece of 3m packing tape would hold it onto the heatsink but to make such a common sense suggestion offends my [H]ard nature. As long as the "bead" of the thermister is securely held against the heatsink it will work.

Where do you purchase the Arctic epoxy? He only has some Arctic Silver 5 that he said he has had laying around for awhile but I don't think it would bond very well.
