I've been lurking here a while and following the monster thread on the P8P67. My first board (P8P67 Pro) ran great...except for the sleep issues. I was able to get the double post to stop with the first board a couple of months ago and can't remember exactly how... or where I found the information. I've tried searching the monster thread and can't find it.

Anyway here's the deal: I got the new B3 installed this morning. Fired up right off. No issues. Used the AI Suite II Auto Tuning to overclock (extreme) and settled on 4.5something GHz. During the tuning, the machine will reboot (cold)...at which time, it began to double post. I reset the bios back to default. I cleared the cmos...removed the power/battery...all that stuff. It then began to cold boot normally...no double post.
I thought all was well and began Auto Tuning again. I got where I wanted (4.5) and on the next reboot (cold) it friggin' double posted again.

I cannot figure out which settings the Auto Tuner is changing that is causing this...anyone? I'm using the extreme option. Is there some setting that the extreme option changes (other than voltages, etc.)?

It's not really a huge issue, but it's just kinda annoying and simply put: ain't right.

I had cold boot issues until I set...

DIGI+ VRM Load-line Calibration to Medium
DIGI+ VRM Phase Control to Medium
DIGI+ VRM Duty Control to T. Probe
DIGI+ VRM Frequency to VRM Frequency Mode, 350 Khz <--- I believe this made the difference.

And I think I'm actually subtracting a little voltage in the bios, because the 'Medium' LLC is a bit aggressive. I run 4.5ghz 24/7 at 1.316V 55C max during Prime.

I always used manual settings with this board. The AI auto-overclock raises certain voltages far higher than what I would normally want to use at the same level of overclocking (for example, the board in Ai mode wanted to use 1.5V at an actual CPU clock speed of 4.4 GHz when I knew that the same CPU needed only 1.35V to 1.375V at 4.7 GHz).

I think I have the same issue but on my ASRock Extreme4. I've never experienced a "double boot" so I'm not sure if that's what mine is doing.

From a cold boot, I hear my fans ramp up to high for a second or two then down to low. Then it sounds like everything turns off and then the fans go to high and then low and then I get the display on the LCD, etc.

Is that the same thing?

This started yesterday right after I overclocked mine to 4.5GHz as well.

I'll look for PLL Overvoltage when i get home Capt.

Yeah i get the same issue on my P8P67 board, i tried enabling the Power by PCI-E x16 in the APM menu it does not work though. i still get double post sometimes, it is my only annoyance with my setup anyone got any other suggestions?

OK, I will look into it tonight. I followed a guide of some sort when I overclocked my 2500K and I seem to remember that might have been one of the things I was supposed to Enable (the PLL Overvoltage).

So, do you think it will interfere with the overclock in any way? Worse case scenario is I can always reset CMOS but was hoping someone might know what it exactly does?

I just tried disabling PLL and my PC would not even boot into Windows. I have intermittent cold boot also.

It's the same thing, but with a different solution !
The double boot issue with Asrock P67 boards was the _fixed_ PCI-e frequency, if you leave at Auto setting, your rig doesn't double boot. ;)

If I remember correctly, there is a BIOS update that resolves this issue for the P67 Extreme4, but not for the Pro3 :(
