I just got a gateway computer off the streets, and from what I can tell it has a busted Powersupply, when I tried to power up it didn't work, so I threw it in another case with another (working) power supply, and tried to boot it up. So it booted, and I look on the screen and theres nothing. So i looked around and realized that 1 little port type thing was empty. The corresponding cable is a square 2x2 cable with "P8" labeled on it, and the powersuply I'm using know doesn't have one of those. What do I do? it there any way for me to hack/rewire this cable to get it to work? Further investigation says the P8connector is for on board video. Help ASAP.

Thanks

damn that doesn't seem to be the problem. I just tired another psu and it didn't work

What model is the Gateway pc? Is the psu a non standard size like this one?

The proprietary 4-pin video cable is top center.

That's not 2x2 as described in the OP.

Could it be the 12v power connector that supplies voltage to the CPU? All newer ATX PSU's have them, but older (pre-P4 days) ones don't.
