I've got a P5N-E SLI (rest of specs listed in sig) and I have the sneaking suspicion its killing my RAM.

About 6 months ago I had a problem where I would start my computer and it wouldn't POST. After about 5 mins of sitting there though (powered on), I could reset it and it would work just fine. I took the computer over to my friends house trid his RAM and it booted fine. I RMA'd my RAM and I put the new ones in and they have been working fine. That is, until a week ago, when it started happening again.

A little before this, (about a week ago) my computer gave me the 1-long beep code, and I pulled out a stick of RAM and it worked just fine. Did not matter which of the 4 sticks I pulled out, it would boot with any combination, in any DIMMs.

Last night, I got a BSOD for IRQL Not greater or less, I think. I'm not certain if this is related to me just installing a 8800GT that day or not.

Mostly, I am concerned that my mobo is killing my RAM. The voltage is set at 2.07 (doesn't have regular voltage numbers for some reason). Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Is that the P5N32-E board? I had one of those and mine did exactly that! It burned my 2x1gb ballistix modules. Replaced the useless piece of junk with a nice P45 board now. Won't be touching another nFarce board.
 
Are you overclocking?

Which bios are you using?

What's the voltage you're using?

I had the same problem when I had it a few months back. Though I didn't suspect that my memory was dieing I suspected that It was killing my video card. I had the same problem with instability and it would do the same damn thing where it wouldnt post until I powered it down again and turned it on. I guess now I know I wasnt the only one. If you are oc'ing I recommend that you lower it because it certainly helped me for a few weeks. Then I had stability problems with that damn board. If you didnt already, bios updates helps alot because they have released (I haven't checked since I ditched the board) bios updates just to fix memory problems the board was having before. Other than that I think leaving it at stock and bios updates should fix your problem. If not be like me and rma the board then sell it on ebay for a good $80-100.
 
Thats pretty scary. I'm using a P5ne sli board in my office desktop computer, no problems at the moment. I would find this hard to believe from a board made by ASUS..... although a few bad seeds are produced.

For the record, I would probably never buy another nForce board either. It was a poor overclocker, despite the newegg fanfare reviewing it as "great overclocker". Obviously, they don't know shit.

Hmm, I don't think it was a poor overclocker, I got 3.15ghz out of it with a e6550, compared to 3.0ghz on my msi board. Though Good overclocker yes, but one that last long is an absolute no no. Like I said in my earlier post lasted only a few good months and crashed after wards. Its crappy at lasting very long.
 
Heh, I am the complete opposite, bad overclocks, but mine has lasted for at least a year now. And it hasn't had issues at stock.

In anycase, I would still consider another ASUS board, if priced well.

Agreed, Their P5Q p54 motherboards look damn good. But I want to wait to see the new lga 1336 before I do anything.

Yes, I'm overclocking, my E4300 is at 3.0Ghz (used to be at 3.2Ghz, but I had to turn it down after a few months as I started getting instability.) FSB is at 1337 (mostly for lulz).

I believe I am using the 401 BIOS. My CPU voltage is +.125 V from nomial (I think) and my RAM voltage is 2.07. NB voltage is also bumped up from 1 notch from the default setting. I can't check right as now the only place I have internet access is at work (I just moved and am waiting for the cable company to come out).

It sounds like I'm not the only person with this type of problem with this board. I'll most likely just limp it along until something blows up, and then replace/upgrade whatever went. I agree that I probably won't buy another Nforce board. SLI is pretty useless upgrade path.

No. It is not a P5N32-E. My friend bought one of those and he couldn't get his E4300 above 2Ghz (from 1.8Ghz...), and then it died once too. So yes, those are junk.
