P5B Deluxe bios flash problem

Hi, i recently put together a new system, specs below:

e6400
ASus P5B Deluxe
2 x 1gig Corsair twin2x c6400
Radeon x1950Pro
Hitachi 7k500
Samsung sata dvd burner
Corsair hx520w psu
Antec p180

I had it all up and working fine, windows installed no bother, and it was working perfectly. So being the fool that i am, i decided to update the bios to the latest version (0804) using the asusflash utility in windows. All went fine, i saved the old bios, and then proceeded to flash the new bios. The program cleared the eeprom, but then as it was writing the new one, i got a blue screen of death! So i restarted teh computer, but now it wont even post. The computer will physically turn on, all teh fans work etc, but nothing comes up on the screen at all! I tried clearing the cmos by taking out the battery and switching the jumpers, but to no avail. I've tried disconnecting all the non necessary devices and moving the sticks of ram around, but nothing either!
Help, i'm stuck and i don't know what else to do! I cant flash it using any discs or anything and it wont even post!

Solution below and please please please express your displeasure to Asus MARKETING about this sad state of affairs, tech support would like to help but until someone with internal clout wacks the software guys over the head nothing will happen. :mad:

I guess its kinda late to say, NEVER USE WINDOWS or any other type of software bios update, download the file to floppy and use the burn program supplied or the utility actually inside the bios if it exists.

damn, i was hoping it wouldnt come to that! i saw that thread but was hoping i could get around it somehow! Serves me right for using the windows program, i knew i shouldnt have done it that way! I might see if i can rma the board and get the supplier i bought it off (i'm in ireland) to replace it for me. Thanks for the link though.

Been to Galway and around a few times, lovely crountry, would almost kill for a real Guiness.

If its a local shop and has a another board they dont mind opening up you could probally do whats called a hot swap flash but I dont remmber the details and would prefer an Asus person verify its do-able.
 
Cheers, always nice to hear people enjoy my country, i tend to forget how scenic it can be sometimes! As for the people i bought it off, tehy're a retail site (komplett) and they're definitely not local! = )
But i've emailed them asking about their replacement policy so hopefully they'll be lenient and replace it for me!
 
Does your P5B Deluxe even have a removable cmos chip? Mine doesn't, neither does my friends. The manual clearly shows where its supposed to be, but its not there. There is simply not a single removable IC on my board at all. I cant even pick out which one is supposed to be the cmos....

Sorry man, that's a drag. And FWIW I always use the Windows flash utility. Just make sure to not overclock while doing it.

no, there's none on mine either! from the manual the closest thing to where it should be is a tiny little chip thats not removable. Ah well, hopefully all will go well with the replacement. I'm not in the mood for spending 30euro on a new chip when i shouldn't have to!

YEah i used to use the windows utilities for all my other boards with no problems, but i guess from now on its better to be safe than lazy!
