Hi Guy's

i have just aquired a P4 system. (See below for specs) anyway this system is acting a little slower that i would have expected it to. Now I beleive the problem to be with the memory which although is fastish ram (333) it's the amount of ram avalible for it to use. Also The processor only get's upto 30 Degrees which i would have expected it to get hotter.

Specs

Jetway MiniQ Sff Barbones system. (Sis chipset)
P4 1.7 Ghz
256Meg 2700 Ram

If its a general use pc then the sis chipset might be causing your woes. The p4 is a bit of a slouch below 2ghz. So that might be a factor to, another 256 megs of ram would help also.

For windows/mpeg/etc it should be fairly peppy.

You can add another 256 meg ram stick to increase the memory. Also, check the video card. Getting a better one can also improve the performance of your system.

Plus its a 1.7
its probly a williamette

But you cant comare it to a Northwood w/ HT (which is fast as hell)

I've fixed it.

The problem was down to the intergated graphics card. I put in my old GF2 and it was a instant improovement.

Cheers for all your help guys.

...XP will thank you for more RAM. You should notice a big difference if you went from 256 to 512.

Cheers - B.B.S.
