P4 Northwood vs E6300

Just wondering if any one has compare the speed and performance of the pentium 4 HT Northwood 3.2ghz and the Conroe E6300. (both at their stock speeds) I have the pentium 4 running on my intel board with socket 478. Since the E6300 is clock at very low speed will they both be the same or the P4 is still little faster?
 
the 6300 would blow the Northwood out of the water. clock speed means NOTHING now.
 
i believe toms hardware cpucharts have the processors your looking for. just search for them in the chart

Well, do consider all the older Pentiums were all on the Netburst architecture anyways. A 3.2 Prescott is roughly comparable to a Northwood.
 
Yeah, it's not even close... The e6300 is a much better processor in every way. Faster at stock speeds, overcocks better, runs cooler, consumes less power, and its a real dual core processor, not that hyperthreading crap.
 
True, I should maybe get E6320 which has 4mb of L2 cache, seen it on newegg. After my new QX6700 rig, this machine is now my server, for file, torrents and counter stirke. So far don't think my machine is that slow of what I have running. It used to be my gaming rig before, with the 6800gt still there. But I hate to change the board for the 775 socket. I think im just gona keep the P4.
 
Don't bother with the E6320. It's been replaced in that particular price category by the E6550. The E6550 is clocked at 2.4Ghz whereas the E6320 is clocked in at 1.83Ghz. On Newegg, the E6550 is $9 cheaper than the E6320 so you're actually getting more performance for your money.
