P35-DS3P not saving settings?

Hey guys, I'm trying to OC my Q6600 (full specs in sig) on my DS3P. When I change my CPU clock control to enabled and change the CPU frequency, I get a blinking "System Settings NOT Optimized!" message, because my System Voltage Control is set to manual. I looked around, and others have said to ignore it. So I ignore it, but when I save my settings and reboot, none of the settings are actually saved. I go back into the BIOS just to find that CPU clock control is back to disabled.

I can't figure this out. The timings on my RAM are all set to "normal" and my voltage is nothing crazy. Even if it was, it should still save my settings.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Edit: BTW, I know some settings are being saved. I've played around with Vcore before and it has saved my settings. Even now, if I change just that it will remember the changes.

Something else you changed is giving the machine hearburn and for whatever reason it cant do it and it reverts back to defaults. Change just one thing at a time till you figure out what is causing this.

So, I did some playing. I can get to 9x280 Mhz at a vcore of 1.20v, but when I raise it to 9x290 I cannot get it to work (will always default back)...unless I bump my vcore up A LOT--I gave up trying after it wouldn't work at 1.35v. I have touched nothing else; all memory timings and such are the same.

BUT, if I set CPU voltage control to "normal", it works. "Normal CPU Vcore" (the option right under where I chose "normal" for CPU Voltage Control is defaulted to 1.20000v...and I can't change that.

Any idea what's going on? What am I doing wrong?

My first thought to your question is - You are overclocking and you have no idea what you are doing. But basically, you are trying to tell your computer to do something and it's not liking it.

1. - either your CPU will never clock that high
or
2. - your ram timings/speed is now too high and you need to adjust
or
3 - you MAY need to give your ram, memory controller, etc. more voltoage

I say stop what you are doing and take the time to start reading more about overclocking your particular board/processor/ram.

If you'd read what I'm actually saying, you'd realize that I'm trying to reach an OC of under 2.7ghz. This should be easily doable and that I said (twice) that I haven't touched RAM timings.

I've done my reading. I've even OC'd before (not a whole lot, but I have). I just don't know what wrong here.
