P180 Power Supply Question

Hey people,

I was wondering whats the cheapest and still decent power supply I could buy that has long enough cables for the Antec P180 without having to buy extenders?

The only ones I've been able to confirm to work with the P180 are the Corsairs PSUs and Seasonic S12s. But those are a bit out of my price range. So I'm wondering if there are any decent cheaper alternatives.

Anyway thanks for reading.

P.S: I already bought the P180. So no need to try to dissuade me from buying. I happen to like the cleanliness and cooling properties of the case.

And the cheap $80 AR? :D

I was also wondering the same thing. I was looking at this sunbeam one, does anybody have any opinion about it or any other PSU for this case? And is modular cabling a big plus with this case?

first off, meet PSU's to avoid list. Avoid those PSUs :p

And, as for what to recomend, Its 100% dependant on your system components, if you have a board that has a 4 or 8 pin connector up at the top left (EG 680i), then you will have trouble with many Power supplies, but if not, your fine.

The NEO HE 550W made it to all of the connectors for my 680i board, the 8 pin on the top left however required the cable to streach right over my graphics card, which i didnt approve of astetically. so, i strapped on another standard molex guy, which i use to power the two fans at that end, and the FDD, and got a molex 4 to 8pin converter, and just plugged it in. It looks fine, and it works fine.

Ahh, it's only money, right? I can say the Corsairs are really nice in a P180.

What about the sunbeam one? Thats a tier 3 recommended PSU on the sticky...

I had it until I got my s12 650w and it was good, cables are a tad short though.

That list is no longer accurate and it was based on 1 man's opinion in the first place. For example the Ultra V-series 500W and 600W made by Wintech is a good, serviceable power supply. Ultra power supplies are mid level or better quality. There was really only 1 bad Ultra power supply, made by Youngear, and those were discontinued a year ago.

Yup.

Corsair and Seasonic work; PCP&C should have long enough cables, as well, but big price premium.
