I finally got my P180 in from Monarch today. After using 4 tornados for so long i wanted something quieter... and WOOOOW. I can hear myself typing.. and now my keyboard sounds loud..The only thing that i can hear in my P180 is my Panaflo 92mm Ultra but only when i put my head down to listen. I have the top 2 fans on medium and the bottom chamber fan on low. My Harddrive temps are in the low 30s, GPU and CPU idling at 40C, and all without a sound. But omg.. the thing took me about 2 hours to take out of my old comp and to install. It was an amazing hassle coming from a tooless case. Plus there was very little room to work with. It was not that hard to do a nice cabling job.. but i rushed through it since i know imma replace my board/cpu soon. Main problems with the case? the lower HD chamber. Its very hard to get the wires connected there and to route them nicely.

Now i gota do some overclocking. I moved my clocks down from 3.9 down to 3.3 just to be safe since i didnt know what kind of temps i would be gettin. And with all of this, the irony is that everyday with my tornados my dad would complain about how loud my comp was.. now i complain about how loud his comp is :D

if you were to put all the fans on high, how loud would you say everything is with the case door closed ?

give me friday or saturday to test it out once i get my parts. but when i had my comp (the one in my sig) i put all of them to low, it greatly reduced sound, and cooled exactly the same.

I've been looking into this case for my next build. I dig having the PS and HD's down in their own chamber.

My main concern is the noise factor because i want to have a near silient pc. I don't want to buy this case then have to go out and get all new fans. or have to do alot of mods to keep things quiet.

I'm also real interested in the cooling this case can provide. It seems like it has a lot of room to get good airflow. I will be overclocking and i want to make sure everything will be ok.

Also i've read from a few people that this case isn't all that great to work in. Overall how happy are you with the case ?

It comes with 3 120mm fans, which are 3 speed switchable.

The case is very quiet if:

a) you don't cram a bunch of hot/noisy hard drives in. I'd stick with no more than 4, if you want to stay real quiet.

b) you don't pick an inherently noisy powersupply.

I've got so much stuff in mine, I decided to put in another 120mm fan up front for the top chamber, and to run all of the fans at the top speed setting. I've got a good deal of fan noise, but nothing I'm not used to. I'll probably do a bit of testing and see if I can backoff on the fan speeds.

there's the problem with my tsunami, i tried to run the fans at lower speeds but im not getting nearly the same temps. I have 4 120mm fans running along with the 120 in my power supply and the 90 on my zalman 7000cu. I messed with the speed settings to quiet the beast down but the temps raise too fast, i was looking into the p180 hoping it will have better airflow and room for cooling. Does the p180 have a blowhole? i saw one version that did but i think it was a special model.

It has a blowhole with 120mm fan, positioned right over the typical cpu location.

It has a rear 120mm fan, just to the back of the CPU spot.

It has an internal 120mm fan, in between the PS and the lower front drive cage.

It has a front 120mm mount in the BOTTOM chamber, which doesn't fit a standard depth 120mm fan without a bit of modding

It has a front 120mm mount in the bottom of the TOP chamber.

Yep, they have a switch on a separate wire that is a few inches long and has settings for low medium and high.

theres no doubt that with one vantec on max even in the p180 itll give u a headache if u listen to it long enough, id know cuz i had to leave mine on max till my rmaed fan controller arrived, it was pretty much unbearable

Vantec fans sucks, I threw mine in the garbage and got CoolerMaster UV 120mms and they are so freaking quiet in my P180

hell yeea i hate my 120mm vantec soo called stealth

Currently i have all 3 tricools set on low, and i was able to OC just as i did on high. I could hit 4 ghz and temps would max our at 45c - 50c, idles at 38c. The main thing that everyone should do is to flip the top fan to make it an intake, and make the back as outtake and it drops temps by 5c

It is reallly dead silent. I have to look at my case to make sure its on at times.

Thinking about picking up the SPCR Black edition to run with my current color scheme, just wanted to know if the stock fans were *silent* as well or if I should upgrade them to say, some nice Nexus fans?

unless you need more air pushed, or if you think the tricools are loud on low, then you should get it. I was thinking about it but in the end it was not worth the cost and all tricools on low cooled amazingly and silent in my opninion.

The only think i would need to do to my system is to volt mod my panaflo ultra (this used to be quiet when i had my 4 tornados =P)

There are much better fans out there than the stock Antec fans. At the high setting they are scream loud. At medium they are still loud. At low they are quiet, but push very little air. The Nexus are a good choice. I have them in my SPCR edition.

any major differences between the stock 180 and the SPCR? it looks pretty nifty but i wouldnt invest the cash unless there was a good reason to

no its just black and has a SPCR logo instead of Antec. Wasnt worth it, $180 before shipping vs $120 shipped.

Having a hard time deciding still, between the CM Stacker, TT Armor series and the P180, ill give it a few days more though.

If you're going to do anything besides install your crap and then leave it alone, don't get a p180.

It isn't a box you want to be inside of on a regular basis.

from what i have read this is a great case for a quiet system, and it also offers some great cooling.
I've been told it is rather cramped to work in, so i would say watercooling is out of the question.

All in all though it seems like this is still a really well built case.
