I dont't know if this is the right place, but I've been having a problem recently. Whenever I play CoD2, I can stay in game for a short period of time, and then it will freeze, and a few different sounds will loop for about 20 seconds, and then it resumes again. If I leave the game running for a few more seconds, then it just freezes completely. My specs are in my sig, but my cpu is only at 3ghz now with a zalman 9500 on it, and it never even touches 65 C under orthos, and my vid card only reaches 68 C with a vf900 on it. So I guess I'm wondering if my soundcard could overheat and do that? But the weird thing is if i play BF2 for over an hour, nothing happens at all. It's just in cod2. There was a recent PB update in cod2, so could that be it? I'm just trying to figure out what's happening so I can try and fix it.

Based on what you gave for info, I doubt it is a hardware issue. Somthing in the game and or video/sound drivers. The tipp off is it only happens with the one game. Never heard of an X-fi overheating (I would think if your case had crappy airflow your cpu temps would be sky high too, and they are not) but I dont know a lot about them other than typically they are trouble looking to happen :p

I would find a good forum on your game and see what people are saying about freezing problems.
