Everest reads my CPU under orthos as:

CPU: 55C
CPU#1CORE#1: 60C
CPU#1CORE#2: 60C

1.35V @ 3.2Ghz

What are you using for thermal compound? What do you have for additional case cooling?

my case has front in, back out fans, stock cooling, stock thermal paste.

Clean the cpu/heatsink and apply AS5. Maybe even lap the heatsink.

What is the stock voltage on that CPU?

not sure what lapping is, stock volt is 1.35V, which is what everest shows under load.

Clean your cpu and heatsink surfaces and try try some artic silver 5 instead.

Stock cooling is a bit of a no no. Adding AS5 will definately lower your temps. It sounds like (correct me if I am wrong) that you used the stock Intel cooler with the paste that come pre-applied to the cooler.

Grab an aftermarket cooler and you'll do much better. If you are unsure of what cooler you should get look around for a heatsink comparison review. Now if only [H]ardOCP had one coming out. [evil grin]

at the mo i am using a thermaltake Blue orb FX in an antec 900 and i get like 20 @idle and max of 30 @ load, and thats just the paste that comes with the blue orb (the blue orb also has a reading of cpu temp and noise level on the fan itself, so thats the other reason i like it). I had been using a Zalman cnps7000B-cu on it before the blue orb, but after the stock cooler was letting it get to 70 celsius + (no overclock, and before i got the 900).

i reckon the blue orb is a great cooler, it looks good and its cheap (well, at least here in Australia...)

sorry, forgot to add above that those temps were on a P4 (pentium 4) not a Core 2...

Get the Ultra 120 extreme. Those intel stock coolers are crappy for overclocking.
