I have got a P4 2.8Ghz, and was thinking of overclocking to 3Ghz.

My questions are:

1) Is it worth it?
2) How do I overclock my computer?
3) Can I overclock, as in will my computer get too hot etc

1. No
2. By raising the fsb in bios.
3. Yes you can and no it won't from from 2.8 to 3.0. But that's like 7%, so not like you're going to see ANY difference anyway.

1. Very subjective as you will not see a noticeable improvement in daily use until a 400MHz or greater overclock is achieved (unless you are a benchmark fanatic). Many people find this an enjoyable pursuit.

2. With the P4 architecture, you slowly raise the Front Side Bus until instability is noted, then back down to a very stable speed. Temperature is another variable also.

3. You will be limited by the options in your motherboard BIOS, processor cooling, power supply stability, and RAM speed. The P4 architecture is akin to a miniature fusion reactor (i.e. it runs very hot). Overclocking a P4 requires a very good heatsink (e.g Scythe Ninja) and even better case ventilation.

Not to dissuade you from overclocking, but you will see a higher return with a fresh Windows install and bumping your RAM to 2GB.
