overclocking stable? and what about memory

I overclocked my Q6600 to 3 ghz with vcore at 1.30. i wasn't running stable with anything below that. During the stress test the cores were around 68-70c, is at to high? also my memory timing are at 800 mhz and 5,5,5,15 auto 2T. they are corsair 2x1024 and says they can be at 4,4,4,12 at 2.1v. Should i do anything with my memory or leave them the way they were? also is there anyway to make them cooler with keeping 3 ghz. i have a thermaltake orb cooling the Q6600
 
Little confused as to exactly what you are asking about keeping cooler.

Those temps not out of line with that cooler, but you need to consider one of the big towers (Tuniq or Ultra extreme) if you intend to OC more. At 100C (if using coretemp to read temps) the CPU will cry for help and a few deg more it will shut down. So your are on the high end of warm but 70C is nothing to get too alarmed over in my opinion. 85C+ is where I would start getting concerned. It is unlikely you will be using any software that will stress all cores at 100% except for testing so its not even as much of a concern as it appears now. (Of course now that I said that, you will tell me you are calculating the orbital trajectories for the next shuttle mission LOL, but I think I am safe. )

If you are stable at your current OC, Yes I would absolutley go into the bios and manually set the timings to 4 4 4 12. and put the memory voltage at 2.1V If you remain stable and all is well, try 2.0V on the memory. If all ok try 1.9V. I suggest using a memtest boot CD for testing memory to avoid the possible lock up in windows and having to repair or reinstall the OS.

Good case airflow is key to long computer life and lower temps.
