Overclocking RAM and mainboard specs

Planning to upgrade my PC sometime soon. Would like to mess around with overclocking again... been a while since I've done it.

I see on some motherboard that it support DDR 3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 as shown here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131735

Is it better to use the 2133 over 1600 when overclocking? Suppose I decide to give up on overclocking later on and set the speed to default, would using 2133 speed RAM still work and/or affect my system performance?
 
For Intel systems, no point to get RAM rated higher than DDR3 1600 as they provide really no benefits. With that said, yes DDR3 2133 RAM should downclock to DDR3 1333 or DDR3 1600 speeds.

Not sure to be honest. Other than the AMD APUs, I haven't seen any recent reviews showing how RAM speed affects the AMD Bulldozer CPUs or even the Phenom II CPUs.
