Overclocking help (Core 2)

Hey everyone!

I am fairly new to the forums and I would like to get some input on how you actually overclock a Core 2 processor. I just bought an Intel D975XBX motherboard, 2x512 Corsair DDR2 667mhz memory, and ATi X1900XT video card and I want to get either a E6400 or E6600 processor. It seems that these new processors can overclock real good so it would be a crime not to do it.

What I would like is for someone to either break it down to a step by step process since I never OC'd before or if someone could provide a link as to how it's done I would really appreciate it. I know that with the motherboad I bought it might require using a pen to connect certain pins to unlock the OC process but I'm not 100% sure. I am looking to do a decent OC with a heatsink/fan not a crazy push for the most Mhz overclock.

Thanks in advance!

I can't give advice on overclocking, but I can tell you to not waste your money on the E6600 if you are overclocking. The E6400 is easily breaking 3GHz, and that is more speed than you will ever use this generation. The doubled cache on the E6600 has been proven to give a less than 5% boost in performance. Get the E6400, and spend the money where it will be more advantageous: on a better video card. Think 7950GX2......
