i bought a desktop from newegg.com brand hp
i have all the programs to overclock it and instructions. i put the clockgen from 1800 to 1895 and i did the occt test and orthos for 8 hours.it seems to be the same once it said 1900 and i put i higher on clock gen and it froze.why does it freeze sometimes.
Motherboard
Manufacturer: Asus
Motherboard Name: P5LP-LE
HP/Compaq motherboard name: Leonite-GL8E
it says to put the ICS 954141CFLF (ASUS P5LP-LE) code but it doesnt match to any. does any one know which one i should pick. i pick the ICS 954148 i think.

If the PLL used by your board isn't supported by Clockgen, you probably won't be able to overclock. I tried using it with an HP C2D system I have access to under similar circumstances to yours and I wasn't able to find a setting under Clockgen that worked.

so do the HP C2D work at overclocking.i tried another PLL and it didnt see me do anything and i put that one that i said and yeah it would work.so i think it is that one for my motherboard but they are different numbersi just choose the closest one next to the same number.do need a better heatsink or what?

As far as I know, you can't overclock HP systems. If your exact PLL is not listed, you're out of luck.

No you need another motherboard if you plan on overclocking any higher. If you can't use the exact PLL number and a different one only yielded a minor stable OC, then you need another motherboard. HP motherboards aren't made nor allowed to OC.

that sucks.like which one is good for overclocking.

Depends on your budget and what features you want on the mobo. Some mobo recommendations:
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L Intel P35 Motherboard - $90
MSI P35 Neo2-FR Intel P35 Motherboard - $110
DFI BloodIron P35-T2RL Intel P35 Motherboard - $110
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R Intel P35 Motherboard - $120
DFI LanParty DK P35-T2RS Intel P35 Motherboard - $130
Asus P5K-E Intel P35 Motherboard - $140
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P Intel P35 Motherboard - $150
Asus P5K-E/Wifi-AP Intel P35 Motherboard - $150
Abit IP35 Pro Intel P35 Motherboard - $170
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 Intel P35 Motherboard - $170
Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4 Intel X38 Motherboard - $207

Just to help you out: If you don't need RAID, more than 4 SATA ports and only need semi-decent overclocking, check out the DS3L. If you need 5 SATA ports, 2 eSATA ports, slightly better overclocking, and a second PCI-E x16 port, then get the Neo2-Fr. If you want heavy overclocking options and six SATA ports, check out the Blood Iron. If you like the BloodIron but want significantly better overclock stability and options, go for the LanParty. If you want 8 SATA ports, RAID, legacy ports and high overclocks and optional eSATA, than the DS3R is a good choice. If you want the DS3R but need Firewire and a second PCI-E x16 port, then go for the DS3P. If you like the DS3P but need 3 PCI slots instead of the DS3P's 2 PCI slots and like having non-optional eSATA, go for the Asus P5K-E. If you like the P5K-E but need wifi, then go for the P5K-E/Wifi-AP. If you want something that can overclock pretty damn high along with RAID, eSATA ports and firewire connections, than the IP35 Pro. If you like the DS3P but want better cooling for overclocking, then go for the DS4. Do note that the Asus website can be slow sometimes.

well go check on tigetdirect. i dont trust newegg
they didnt want to give my money back after i bought the desktop or anything.thats why i trust more tigerdirect they give you fullprice back.

I have an E4300 running at 3ghz, 1333fsb stable on a Asus P5B-Deluxe.

Everything Danny posted is also a good choice.

You go check on Tigerdirect. I've already listed the recommended mobos already. It's up to you to look through Tigerdirect if Newegg isn't good for you. Just copy and paste the names of the parts I listed into Tigerdirect's search bar and go from there. Not that hard.

Also, I don't trust Tigerdirect either. Any website that lists parts by their after rebate price seems shady and misleading IMO. Hence don't why I don't trust Tigerdirect.

i cant find any plz do that for me.

At first I thought you were stupid or something but then I took at Tigerdirect. Yeah you're right, Tigerdirect doesn't have any of the motherboards I listed. In fact Tigerdirect only has 4 P35 motherboards.

Unfortunately for you, Tigerdirect does not have a decent selection of motherboards based Intel chipsets at decent prices. And I cannot recommend going with a motherboard based on Nvidia chipsets since A) you don't need SLI and B) they are not as stable as Intel chipsets.

So if you're sticking with Tigerdirect, you're SOL.

ok solo?so sad?

So Out of Luck

I have never liked tiger direct. and there are other places besides those two.

try

mwave.com
directron.com
frys.com
zipzoomfly.com

How bout Amazon? Base price is sometimes higher, but free shipping and usually no sales tax. Plus one of the best return policy.

You don't trust newegg? That's one of the funniest things I've ever read. Ever. Bar none.

Newegg has excellent service, products, and prices. Just because you bought a prebuilt rig and you can't return it doesn't mean they're a bad place to buy from. Get one of the boards that Danny listed and be happy.

Exactly what I thought! Ive bought over $5000 worth of equipment from them and am impressed by speed, service, and friendliness to this date! Highly recomend you stick with the egg man.

well yeah but i trust more tigerdirect.[

How do you not trust newegg machu.

Tigerdirect is the SKETCHY company. Terrible rebate system. Misleading descriptions. Usually high prices. Overadvertising on their website.

Try newegg man, u won't regret.

I don't know if i am misinterpreting your attitude of your posts, but you seem to be coming across rudely to me. Yes, IT DOES SUCK if u don't like newegg.

because i bought a desktop and i didnt like it and i wanted to get my money back and they said that i couldnt.on tigerdirect they give you your money back and shipping too.
and the daly deals are good too.

Dude you crack me up. I had a long day, and just like leetskeet this thread has put me in a lighter mood.

The rule for 50 posts before you can post in f/s / trade is mostly to weed out spammers and people with low integrity to the board.

"minimum price $100.00" - lol, this chip retails for under $70. Sheesh.

Oh wait, you only like tiger direct:

I'll trade you for some pocket lint, a paper clip, and a roll of dental floss.

Alternatively, look here. Note number 16.

well no it sucks for you?

Why in the whole wide world would it suck for me. Its your problem, and you refuse to take advice, other than what you think is the best thing to do. That kind of defeats the purpose of asking for advice anyway...

Yeah, no one is going to buy that processor, in the wrong section of the forums, used, for 40 $ over the retail price.

This thread has made my week pretty good so far though.

It amuses me.

well my friend said that it was good.and he knows alot about computers.so i messed up by taking his advice. so yeah now i have a better one.
Then why didnt you research before you bought, like a smart consumer.

Trust what we've told you. If tigerdirect doesn't have a great selection, newegg is great. There's also mwave, directron, zipzoomfly, and others that don't come to mind right now. Don't let one bad experience ruin a sellers reputation in your mind.

oh well my bad them. yeah thats true.ok thanks.
