rig is in the sig :)

now running at:::
-----------------------
barton 2500
2014mhz @ 183.1 x 11
1.648 V core
ram is running 3-3-3-8
183mhz

Temps are:::
32C on the mobo
50C on the CPU on load
-----------------------
My goal is to run it at 2.3 - 2.4ghz
and Have my ram running over 205mhz

-----------------------
Stock cooling on the CPU, HSF,
No cooling on the ram,
I am planning to buy a Si-97 and a 92mm delta,
and RAM heatsink spreaders for my ram :)

Should I set my CPU fsb/dram ratio to 5:4 , if so, why? :)

I am using CPUz for info wcpuid for info, and CPUCOOL for temps.... are there any good programs to control your fan speed through your desktop?

Just bored and figured a comparison couldnt hurt.

Shuttle AN35N-Ultra and 1 stick 512mb PC2700

XP2500+ Barton
2205mhz @ 200.5 x 11
1.67v
38C idle w/ thermaltake silent boost
47C load
(crappy air flow in the case)

Crucial PC2700 512mb
2.5-3-3-7
6:5
167mhz

ive been meaning to tweak with the settings a little here and there but just havent had the time to actually sit with it.

I have some kingston 3200, should I crank the settings to 2.5-3-3-7 , that's what they were before I OC'd the CPU, then it changed,! I'm not too good with ram timings and ram settings at all actually though =(

barton 2500 on a asus a7n8x delux

200x11 (3200+ speeds)

61 load after about 10 hours folding at %100 cpu usage.
stock cooling, and its about 75 in this room right.

i open the window, room goes to about 55 and temps at 45 load.

stock air cooling, they overclock like mad. and you need 3200 ram for a big improvement boost.
my comparison before and after hardware optimization

nice nice...

Barton 2500+ @ 2.2 (200x11) on a DFI Lanparty NFII Rev A.

temps are great under an slk800
38C idle
43C full load (prime95)

ok..get a better heatsink.. if you are at 50c now.. then i wouldn't up it too much more.. zalman 7000.. xp-90, etc...

don't get ram heatspreaders.. they are just jewelry, they haven't really been proven to help or hinder.. they are just there..

maybe artic silver, or shin etsu..

then aside from that.. find out the limits of your hardware individually.. its much harder with a locked multi.. but lower your ram timiings to something you know they can do 200 at.. like.. 3-4-4-11 or set it to spd.. then try to get the cpu up as high as you can until either your temps go to high, more voltage won't make a difference, or you get to the highest voltage you want to use.. then test it for stability..

then you can tighten the ram timings and run memtest to see how it responds..

what motherboard do you have? if it is an nforce2 set the last number in the ram timings to 11 or 12

you can use a ratio on the ram, but only to test the cpu or ram seperately.. otherwise it will hurt you more than it will help... socket A works best when the ram and cpu are at the same speed.. otherwise the latencies get you..

speedfan is a good program to control fan speeds, monitor temps, etc...

Barton Mobile 2500+ @ 2.5ghz (217 x 11.5) @ 1.8 Volts... 63 degrees C under load  but stable :)

Is that all it will go? I must have been lucky then...mine is in my sig.

Mobile Barton 2600+ at 2.6GHz/1.6v 200FSBx13x with wire in the socket mod. Stock it runs at 2Ghz 133FSB. It will top out at 2.7Ghz with 1.8 volts and runs real hot. Not bad for a $92 CPU that will hang in with a A643200 - 3400.

Yeah you were lucky... If I up the FSB by 1mhz, it can't pass prime for more than 30 minutes. It's kind of funny.

I read somewhere that the FSB should be in mulitples of 33 or 33/2 for best performance. So 200, 217, 233 have the best performance results. So your 217 is right where it needs to be.

I'll see if I can dig that article up. It was a Barton overclocking guide that was linked on HardOCP a few months ago.

Really? hmm... interesting stuff, yeah if u can link me the article, that'd be great. Thanks

Ive never been able to get my 2500+ 100%.

Thank god for bios reloaded on my inifnity for the quick settings switch. 3200 for gaming 2500 for everything else.

I susspect my oc probs are either down to a shitty chip or the undervolting which seems to be caused by my PSU.

barton 2500+ @ 11x197=2166mhz...been running prime95 for 22hrs and counting, case temp is currently 30C, processor is at 41C with thermaltake silent boost
