Overclocked CPU, getting werid result...

I have a 2500+ in a Gigabyte GA-7S748-L...and just reciently found out there was a windows overclocking software (easytune4) on this disk that came wiht it, so I figured I would try a bit of overclocking. Having a locked processor, I figured I would just work with the FSB a bit, so I increased it from 166 to 176. Problem is, that also increased the AGP clock from 66 to 70. I figured I would see if it would still work, and the CPU overclocked fine, but whenever I would play a game, the game would start skipping, assuming ebcause of hte AGP clock. I went to put my fsb back to 166, but every time I woudl restart, the changes woudl not take into effect, I would still have my processor showing a 2600+ and the program still had my AGP clock at 70. So I tried putting the FSB back to 166 at my BIOS..now my processor is reading normally again but my AGP clock is at 55? In order to get it back to 66, , I would have to increase my fsb to 200, and there is no way my PC2700 ram will be able to handle that. Will my system run fine with the slower AGP clock, or are my graphics gunna take a hit? How can I get it back to normal?
 
I just played some UT2k4, and didnt notice any problems...think this means I can re-overclock my CPU and not worry about the AGP clock?
 
if you relax the timings on your memory and bump the voltage as well (on the memory) you may be able to run it at 200fsb 1:1. otherwise, you'd have to run a ram speed divider.

you want to keep the agp clock (and thus pci clock as well) as close to 66 as possible so you don't get video card instability or hard drive corruption.

you may need to raise the cpu voltage as well to hit 200fsb, but you shouldn't need to do that much.
 
ok, but how do I fix the apg clock? Its at 58 with my fsb at 176. Running passmark, im getting lower marks now. With the program it only adjusts the agp clock with the fsb, I cant just up the AGP clock...this is weird.

Anyone know of any other windows based oveclocking software I coudl try, my stupid bios doesnt have the option to adjust the AGP clock. Maybe resetting my BIOS woudl get it back to normal...how would I do that, and what settings would a BIOS reset change...woudl it just set my fsb and AGP/PCI clocks to the right speed? WOudl it affect my graphics card overclock, or woudl I loose any data on my hard drives?
 
i think that your motherboard has switched to a /6 fsb:pci bus speed divider, which gives you the agp speed of 58. try running a higher fsb, and drop the memory speed by setting a divider if necessary.

as you get closer to 200fsb, the agp/pci speed will get closer to 66/33.

to reset bios: there is a jumper on the motherboard which you need to use to reset the bios. alternatively, because it is still operational, you could use the 'default settings' option in the menu. that would reset all bios configuration things to their default values. any bios options you changed would be set back to their original value.

before you reset your bios: (just thought of this, it's a gigabyte board)
hit the F6 key (i think... it may be F2 or F8 or something, try the F-keys until you find it)
that opens the advanced configuration menu in the bios, which should have the agp divider, as well as some other useful configuration options.

for windows overclocking: try the clockgen site to see if your board is supported.
 
1.) how do I drop the memory speed
2.) I doubt I can just bump my CPU up to 200fsb (what it woudl take to get 66/33), so it would be alot easir if I could get the 66/33 back at the normal fsb of 166, and ill just stick to overclocking my video card.

Also, I have heard Nfocrce chips lock the agp/pci bus so you can still bump the fsb. If thats true...new motherboard time!

the nforce motherboards do lock the pci/agp bus. i'd recommend the abit nf7-s/an7 or the dfi infinity (or lan party if you want gigE)
