Check out the video here.

3x1 Portrait is working fine.

3X1 Landscape Eyefinity is NOT working. Shame on 2K and AMD for getting this done for the release of this game. Yeah, you both suck on that front. WideScreenFixer did have a fix for the original BioShock, so maybe we will have this worked out again. That sad thing is this. Why the hell does AMD not have its own tool by now and the staff to jump on this and get it worked out immediately. If a guy working for free in his part time can hammer this out, surely AMD can. :(

looks awesome....my wife even said it looks awesome, and shes hard to impress......any word on a dual gpu fix?

gee another new game not working with crossfire...whats new? lol

I like the portrait setup but I still cant get past the bezels. even the Dell logo right in front of my face would be distracting in the middle of the screens. other than that, it looks so cool having that much viewable space in the game and makes my monitor look so tiny

I only got a chance very briefly, but triple landscape didn't appear to have the crispness of single screen. I didn't get to mess with it much to play with settings, but it looks stretched and pixelated on my 3 22's.

Kyle, test it out for us and let us know.

its probably due to the FOV being out of wack.. not sure of this game has a console.. might want to check that and see if you can change the FOV from 60 to 90 or 100..

All of this CrossFire issue is about to be worked out. AMD has a big release coming up very soon. I would not want to PROFILE the issue here though, but would rather wait for the embargo.

Yeah, you are right, I suggest Eyefinity is not for you. You probably can't handle the bezels and would be staring at them all the time. The rest of the 46" of screen hardly ever get seen while I am gaming, so I know exactly what you are talking about.

Just found out why you didn't test triple-landscape. 2K games screwed up AGAIN and the FOV doesn't scale properly for widescreen or surround gaming.

They fixed Bioshock 1 so its FOV would scale properly, how the heck did they forget to implement the same thing here? Oh well, I'll be waiting for the patch before I purchase it.

looks gorgeous. by the way, what was the song at the end of the video (it was like thank you, thank you very much...)?

I just don't like the three monitors borders in the way of the whole picture.
To me this is unacceptable for gaming or watching videos.

Why would I use this video mode instead of just buying a large 30" or 40" monitor instead?

Is there some kind of advantage to using multiple monitors instead of a large single monitor?

I see lots of people praising this new video mode, but I don't really understand why.

Would someone please explain.

Thanks,

thats one thing that turns me off about eyefinity. the bezels

screen tearing was still there, i think you had to exit the game for vsync to be turned off.

Doesn't seem to work in Landscape as the widescreen mode seems to be Vert- rather than Hor+ which is exactly the same as Bioshock 1.

Pretty sure that this thread on WSGF would be the first place that a fix would turn up as Dopefish's Widescreen Fixer app worked for the original game.

The only reason they even fixed it in the first one is because RacerS I think hacked it.

that looked horrible.

We have been over this countless times. You just can't GET Eyefinity unless you play Eyefinity. You just have to have the experience.

When we did the Eyefinity Challenge here in Dallas, we had over 100 people come through, many expressing the same opinion about the bezels, and everyone left with a different opinion after experiencing Eyefinity.

That all said, I can see where the 3X1 Portrait experience is not for everyone and other may find the bezels to close together. I like it in gaming, but primarily, I like having full length pages on my normal desktop for editing. Much more beneficial than a 30" and 1600 pixels up and down.

Coming soon. :)

Yeah, this is a driver issue. I have seen it come and go. There is one place it will tear now on the right display, used to be the in middle a couple of drivers ago, and gone in the last driver. Still talking to AMD on this.

kyle what monitors are those? i just got a Dell S2409W.

Dell U2410.

I want your setup.

EDIT: Did you end up turning down a lot of the settings when you played the game? During the video you said that it dipped into the mid 20s.

Portrait simulates having one giant high res display, versus landscape its like having one regular display with a ton of peripheral vision.

Do you want one giant super high res screen? (everything more "detail", but no peripheral data)
Or do you want to see more to left and right? (less "detail", but more peripheral data)

I don't have an eyefinity setup myself so couldn't tell you from personal experience, but I am fairly certain this is how it works

why the sarcastic eye roll at the end? the bezels being annoying is a pretty common complaint so no need to be rude about it.

Yes, and I see this OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN from people that have never used an Eyefinity station for gaming. And I just addressed my experiences above about when people DO experience it rather than judge it from a video or picture.

Still, you are probably right. While gaming you would just be drawn to the bezels like a moth to a flame. Agreed, Eyefinity sucks for you.

I'll stick with my large tv :p.

Yes, but all you have there is a bunch of pixels stretched out to the size of my Eyefinity setup. I have "proper" resolution THREE TIMES your TV. Actually I have more than three even if you have a 1080P screen. ;) You just have to see it to understand.

because people like you have no understanding of how the brain works.. when focusing on the display its self.. your eyes and brain look past the bezels and join the image as a single large image thus you dont notice the bezels until you actually try to look at them.. you only notice them in the video's because you are looking at the entire video as a whole instead of trying to focus on whats playing on the displays.. good example is finding a bestbuy that still uses the old 15 display x 15 display screens which are 30 inches each and stare at it for a couple minutes.. bet you wont realize the image being displayed is broken up with multiple displays..

I like the portrait view better. you are still getting a lot wider view overall than a regular monitor but also getting some extra height too. the regular setup just doesnt have enough height and looks like a mail slot compared to 3 monitors in portrait.

The advantages are mostly in games that you need a wider field of view. Its not stretching it to fit the screen like a large TV, its actually giving you a wider resolution. In driving games and shooters you can see a wider field of view.

A pretty common complaint FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT USED EYEFINITY. Show me one person who has owned an eyefinity setup and said the bezels ruin gaming.

um okay. the people that bought this setup already felt like the bezels would not bother them. show me one thread where several people are not put off by the bezels. thats keeping many people including myself from really jumping on board. maybe when I get a chance to try it I will change my opinion but until then...

Thanks for the input guys.
It seems to me that this mode will give you higher resolutions than current 30" or 40" monitors can offer right now.
Pretty soon we will see higher resolution monitors coming out though.
I would not want the bezel blockage for my gaming of course, but I do like the multiple vertical positions for full page display.

Thanks and see you out there,

3x Portrait EF is actually wider than a single 16:10 screen. It's wider by about 17% or so. But other than that, you are correct.

To me, like many the bezels kill it. It looks like it would completely distract from the experience. I use dual monitor setups all the time and definately notice the bezels when i drag windows between. I could not work with half of a movie on one screen and the other half on another. I dont see how gaming plus an extra monitor would be any different. From the video it looks bad an I have no idea why people love this so much.

And to the comment... "try it before you knock it". Trust me, I'd love to try it before i dismiss it as bad. But spending $300-$400 on a videocard plus several hundred more on monitors seems very stupid to me to just "see if I like it". It's too big an investment for it not to drop your jaw to the floor without trying it.

There is an eyefinity challenge thread, that AMD and [H] hosted in Texas. Plenty of people in there were skeptical and walked away wanting one. Read up.

Also running the fastest videocard in the world at 20-30 fps is a huge turnoff to the tech. Investing $1000+ in videocard and monitor to only have to turn down the graphics to get reasonable framerates.....
