OS 3.0 on Ipod Touch 2G

I have an Ipod Touch 2G, and wasn't going to worry about OS 3.0 since it didn't really have any benefit to me. Then I noticed it supports push for IM apps like Beejive IM which may actually be useful.

I was about to upgrade, but quick research showed a huge number of people having issues with wifi after upgrading. This is definitely a deal breaker, should I just wait for 3.1 or has anyone here had no issues after upgrading?
 
Supposedly 3.1 comes out in august ..

I use 3.0 myself and there haven't been any major issues for me.
I'd say pull the plug for the features if it's something you really want.

Either way it's still functional without.
 
I run 3.0 on my first gen touch and haven't had any issues for wifi.
 
I think I'll hold off if 3.1 is possibly going to be released in August. Thanks for the info.
