Organize cables

- plastic zip ties in many sizes
- rubberized cable organizers for the larger bundles
- start from the mobo and cards and work your way down to the motherboard, tucking the excess away
- if you can swing it, custom cable sets make life much easier.

depends on the case, PSU, and other things.

Most of it will just be 'good routing' if you have a case that helps out.

Any recommendations on custom cables? and which ones to get?

My power cable for my GFX card (4x2) is so ugly...

Cable Combs are the easiest way to make that look nicer.

Also what case? If you're in a box with no routing help, it's still gonna look kinda ugly, no matter what.

2 more things to add: modular power supply so there are not excess, unused cables. And try to get wiring behind motherboard on side of case that is not usually removed.

Make sure that you get the correct custom cables for your PSU. They are not universal and if you use EVGA cables on a SEASONIC psu, for example you will fry that psu.

cablemod and bitfenix both make custom braided cables. Just check the specs and make sure your psu is supported.
