Optimus Tactus Keyboard

if you want tactictil feedback you could use a thin membrane to lay over the keyboard that has raised edges for the keys, it could even be soft so you have to press down on it in order to do a keystroke. Then when you want to changefrom the default keyboard display either swap out the membrane or remove it. Something like the Zboard only your only replacing a thin reuseable sticker.

So, um, you haven't used mechanical keys, have you? I can touch-type fine on a flat rigid surface, it just isn't anything like the feel of a mechanical board. I spend way too much time in front of one of these machines, so I'll have a little luxury in my interface devices thank you very much. :D

I love the concept. Especially the color palette layout. I would buy it at a reasonable price, for sure.

At the rate they "make" products, we can expect this to arrive in 2020, and by then Logitech will have already come out with the G93, and it will also "retail" for $3499.99...shipping not included. I think they DREAM up amazing products, but what have they made? Other than a 3 button controller for a hellofva lot of money...they should just go into designing, and forget production...however, it is very cool, but I doubt I will see it in my lifetime...

I'm still waiting on...

"Helloooo, computer..."

I know it works up to a point, but we're still decades away from true voice control of everything including just stuff outta the blue. And yeah, as soon as I saw it LCARS came to mind, obviously. Would kick ass to have this kind of keyboard and be playing Star Trek: Online if it ever comes out, using an LCARS style layout.

Yes, I'm a Geek. Are you? :)

It was me on the last post.

NOW this is something i would have really prefered seeing. Open working environment, touch sensitive great for studio work, graphics, 3D modeling. even at home.... ever find yourself wanting to find some information online but you stuck doing something else why not use your keyboard :)

Although we are dealing with a touch sensitive screen, i find that many work on heat sensing and lack pressure sensitivity.... which is important to get the point across.

Just think depending on how pissed you are and how hard you press it could throw up caps for you.

With everything else becoming versatile the keyboard has been the one thing that has not changed in much of computer history.

further more it could change its key arrangement to better suite your hand posture, and allow you to work in a more relaxed natural position.

It could be an open slate IF Optimus allows the owners to develope there own layout. open
therefore free to grow and to me more appealing as a buyer if i don't have to use what is provided to me if i don't want to.

As for tactile feel it could be soft...something your fingers could "sink" into.

Umm, the Art Lebedev site lists Maximus for pre-order at approx. $499 USD... its still a lot for a keyboard, but much less than $1,500.

I like the concept. What bothers me is how is it possible for a technologically lagging Russia to produce high-tech stuff like this. Or do they still out-source to China?

My bad. Its $499 for a Maximus keyboard with just 1 customizable OLED key :S, $999 for 47 OLED keys and $1547 for full 107-key board...

A buddy of mine has an old keyboard made by the company that developed the touch screen for the IPhone. Before they were bought by Apple, they made keyboards. So it's pretty much a touch sensitive keyboard with features like...two fingers moves the mouse, three fingers scrolls. Similar concept, but without the graphical displays on these boards. Kept the price down, and it's really nice to type on.

I think its really cool but i think typing with it would be a bitch. I like to feel the keys when i hit them, and i also type a lot of times while watching tv or something and i would not know if i hit the wrong key on accident, or if my hand was in the right place sense it wont have that little bump on the j and f lol.
